Financial fair play?
« on December 27, 2013, 10:00:44 am by Bentley Bullet »
Considering what seems to be quite a few grass root supporters emphasising the importance of their club being financially sustainable, should football authorities take their views on board and relegate clubs to their ‘financial level’, like the powers that be did to Doncaster Rovers Belles?

No.

Applying FFP will do that anyway, over time.  Clubs will settle at a level they can afford, then move up when they have a successful team that clicks and brings in higher crowds.  Look at what we did when we got promoted in 2008.  Then its all about sustaining it if you can.

That will never happen.
1) Too many loopholes
2) The Premier League is built on debt and overspending budgets. Man Utd. Man City, Chelsea to name just three.

Can't see them in The Championship any time soon

Dreamers all of them. Financial Fair Play? more like Pie in the Sky.

Stands back waiting for SM to tell us all otherwise.

I don't know the exact rules nor when they start to apply, but if the top sides are not run properly in financial terms, they won't be allowed to play in the champions league.

Lets wait and see, time will tell whether UEFA apply rules strictly or clubs find loopholes...

Nobodies saying the new arrangements are perfect, but it's a good start and has already impacted the attitudes and behaviours at all levels of the game. Clubs and CEO's are beginning to change business practice in order to comply.

Yet  again I have to stress it's not intended to create a level playing field, it's designed to create a culture of responsible ownership/management. The initial report from Uefa suggests they are pleased with the progress as spending on transfer fees has, overall, been reduced.

I'm sure you'll still find fault with that somewhere Wellygogs.
