Let the legal battles begin! So much for his legacy.

Absolute farce. The brown envelope must have been big.

Sky Sports reporting that there has been no official word from FIFA yet regarding this 'statement' but there can't be any smoke without some fire here can there ?

All European football gets put out of sync for 2 or 3 seasons to accommodate this

Ridiculous, but we all knew it was coming.

If I had the power I'd try and organise an international boycott of the tournament from any country who would have their entire domestic schedule ruined for 2-3 seasons. This would leave Qatar 2022 to be contested between South American and Scandinavian nations plus the U.S.A. but I'd be fine with that. International football has gotten less and less interesting over the last few years.

Does it really matter for England? With our record in recent years at the World Cup we'll have all the players back playing for their Prem League clubs in 4 weeks after we are knocked out in the quarter finals

World Cup in Qatar definitely moved to a winter tournament. Another Blatter legacy!

If anyone had suggested the idea of a winter world cup 10 years ago to anyone, including anyone at FIFA, we'd have all called them mad. Looks like the lunatics really have taken over the asylum  :suicide:

Doesn't anyone else think this could be the best chance we have had since 66!

To quote Michel Platini, the Uefa president;

England, Platini said, were "lions in the winter and lambs in the summer".

I see if you look at the link, they've back tracked a bit on this, I'm not surprised since it opens the door for Australia, United States and Japan to sue FIFA.

Australia said they would seek compensation a while back, I expect the other candidates will do the same.

Ah yes, the football bastion that is Qatar.... It was madness from the start. Complete nonsense.

How can we check back to the announcement on this forum? I guaranteed then it would not be a summer world cup as it was impossible.
Only a boycott will do any thing, believe me you are not missing any thing culturally, it really is a hole. I have no problems with Arabs but Qataris are the pits.

Teflon Sepp. We all know nothing will change. He will probably carry on as normal until he kicks his clogs.

The thing that really gets my goat is that it was so obviously a corrupt decision to award to it Qatar.... I mean I am all for the world game and what have you but seriously.......???? And there's nowt you can do about it.

Smoke machines? Although technically that's dry ice.

It'd be brilliant if nobody went to Qatar, carried on as normal then turned up in Australia in June, completely organised behind FIFA's back. It'd still be less of a mockery than giving it to Qatar in the first place.
