AskYourSLOs: Pay on the Day at Away Games

Throughout the season we have received many questions prior to away games regarding whether fans can purchase their tickets on the day either at a Ticket Office or via a Cash Turnstile.

When we receive these questions we would like to assure all supporters that we do contact our Ticket Office or the relevant clubs to find out at the earliest convenience. Once we are aware we make it available immediately via Twitter (@SLO_DRFC) and Facebook (Facebook.com/DRFCSLOs) and we also post in on message-boards to ensure as many fans as possible are aware.

However, we would like to point out that many clubs which we visit throughout the season don’t generally have a policy in place and make decisions game-by-game depending on the amount of tickets sold, expected supporters etc., because of this we generally don’t find out whether tickets are available on the day until they are no-longer available from our own ticket office.

This has meant that for a couple of games this season we have been told that there will not be Tickets available on the day and then told later that the club have made a late decision to sell tickets on the day of the game. Because we communicate the information we receive immediately this has lead to confusing and contrasting messages.

To avoid this inconvenience in the future we will only announce whether tickets are available on the day once we have a final decision communicated by the home club, this will generally be once our Ticket Office have stopped selling tickets or just before.

While we understand that this will be of little help should there be no tickets available on the day, leaving fans with little or no time to get tickets from our Ticket Office we would like to remind everyone that you can purchase your tickets from our Ticket Office either in person, over the phone or online. Also, by purchasing tickets from our club, Doncaster Rovers will receive a commission from the Home Club on all tickets sold from our Ticket Office.

I'm afraid I struggle to understand that one. That has never been the policy in the past, i.e. 'we'll make a decision after they've been taken off sale'.

I'll check it out with the Football League, it quite clearly flies in the face of the emphasis they've put on away fans attendance this season.
