How often do Swansea win a major UK football competition?

It seems a perculiar decision to me, particularly since they are missing a couple of other influential players, notably Michu.

Wasn't he being linked with Real Madrid?

I suspect he'll go on to bigger things.

They have been poor for 10 games and he gets the sack, it's a joke. You never know what is happening behind the scenes though, he may have had a fall out with the board. As soon as Monk went from 33/1 to 6/4 in about 6hrs for the job it was obvious he was going.

Shocking decision! Doing well in Europe after winning their first trophy in years, missing their top player and still 12th in premiership - ok only 2 points above drop zone, but surely would gave stayed up with a number of teams far worse than them. Unbelievable! Just shows how expectations can totally blinker peoples perception of reality. When they were revelling down in the bottom tier just avoiding relegation thanks to Flynnie, who'd have thought they'd be unhappy with what they have now?!

Just my opinion, but I think the next manager will be a backward step, whoever it is (unless fergy is on his way back or mourinho has had a change of heart at Chelsea!).

Can see them dropping like a stone if hoddle does take over, they should be careful what they wish for!

So much for Swansea being the model we should all aspire too. Turns out they are exactly the same as the other premier league clubs, what a dreadful decision.

Looks like Laudrup would not commit to Swansea beyond this season, so he may have some post in his pocket.

Strikes me as a panic move and an oddly-timed one at that. The transfer window has just closed.

Yeah, reading a couple of articles about it, it looks like the decision may not be as bizarre as it first seems.

It appears the chairman was really reluctant to do it but things just weren't going very well at all behind the scenes.

I'd be pleased if Graeme Jones takes the opportunity.

Ten games? They've been awful since the League Cup final.

Anyone who follows Swansea knew this decision was something of an inevitability.

If the mirror article is correct about his payout, it what world do these managers live! It's incredible! Skip work for  a 2 day bender in Paris, let all your workers have the same time off, then get paid £4.5 million when you're sacked??

Who else on here would get a payout if they're sacked for not turning into work and performing consistently bad?
