Exciting times ahead for DRFC!?
« on March 24, 2014, 08:23:53 am by SoundbiteBarmyArmy »
I think that we are safe now. You must be a brave and some might say, stupid person to believe that we'll get relegated after the spirit & passion we have shown in the past 4 games.

I honestly believe that Terry Bramall & Dick Watson will back Paul Dickov to the hills over the summer; this meaning that he will make some fantastic signings and we'll see one of the best, if not the best side we've ever seen down at DRFC.

Also, Billy Sharp must be surplus to requirements down at Southampton now! Surely? He loves DRFC and 'owes the fans so much'. I think there's a big chance of bringing him in on a permanent - with him & Browny up front, who knows!?

How can they?. If they want to stay within FFP perameters. Cant have it both ways.

Sign Sharp at all costs, extend the contracts of Tamas and Meite. Employ a therapist for Tamas.

there is room for movement on the ffp rules

There is? where?. Only if losses in excess of 3* million are covered by equity release. That's been the case from the outset ( Sorry, I'm wrong, for 3* million read 5, which has come down from 8). Why would DRFC "owners" now go down a different route than this season, or last, or one before?.

There is that leeway you just said,it's not the route the will or should go down but is there should they choose

Got the nucleus of a good squad if it's kept together, no reason why we can't use the loan market to our advantage is players with the calibre of Johnstone are available.

Upon first reading I thought you meant 'put him out to pasture'?

Could also be exciting times for Rovers for the future with our youth team (u18s).noticed they beat Hull City youth 3-2 at Cantley Park on Saturday to move them up to 2nd in their league (Hull have won that league for the last 2 years !)
the 2 McKay boys are still with us-has anyone seen the team play as i wonder if we have some more promising first-teamers of the future ?
Best of luck to them for the rest of the season ,hope they make it to the top of the league.

Heard good things about those two, we should throw them in a few games once we are mathematically safe

As it stands at the moment:

1. Bradford City P. 18 Pts. 46
2. Rovers P. 19 Pts. 39
3. Scunthorpe P. 18 Pts. 36
4. Hull P. 19 Pts 30.

The Youth Team play Bradford at Cantley tomorrow. Mathematically they can still win the title, though even if they win tomorrow this seems unlikely due to Bradford's game in hand. They play Scunthorpe (away) on 12th April in their final game of the season, which could confirm the runners-up spot.

They've won their last 6 games on the spin and had it not been for a mid-season slump when they failed to win in five games they'd be pushing Bradford very hard indeed.

Last season they finished runners-up to Hull by two points, having also finished a very distant second to Hull in 2011-12.

Definitely signs of improvement in terms of bringing through young players.

There's a bit of a malapropism there, it might just be he wants them to back him to the hilt.

They also won the FA Alliance Cup in 2011-12 and those players have shown what a big step up it is from Youth level to First team.

Looks like the player from the Youth team to keep an eye out for is Lewis Ferguson.

Apparently did well for the Reserves v Scunny (scored one and set up another) and earned himself a place on the bench v Wednesday.

And he's a Donny lad!

I'd like to think they's all do a bit of shooting practice. If you've got the ability to get in to positions, you should have the tools to finish.

Personally, with our sustainable(ish) model, I don't think we'll be able to keep hold of all of our big names or top performers.

However, what this has shown, is that quality players are out there, players who would rather play for TLOD, maybe for lower wages, but with a higher chance of playing football week-in week-out rather than getting splinters in their backside.

The Youth Team drew 0-0 with Bradford City this afternoon. Coupled with Scunny's 0-4 defeat by Notts County this means Bradford are champions and increases our chances of finishing runners-up again.
