Update - Seven further players from Football League clubs based in north-west England arrested over alleged bribery and money-laundering

Really? What's happening to the game? Can't trust anything nowadays

Some Leed's fan told me Paddy Kenny has been involved in match fixing and is why he is currently out of the squad.

I was concerned about Richie and his yellow cards but with the players coming from the north west and the eldest being 30 Richie fails to qualify on both counts.

As the earlier arrests related to players from Tranmere and Oldham, I'm guessing that any subsequent arrests might involve those clubs.

EDIT- I suppose we ought to add Blackburn to that list as one of their players was also arrested.

Ronnie Moore was suspended from Tranmere pending investigation. Looks like it's gone further

I understand at least one player arrested plays for Preston.

And 5 Preston players.  Not good for them.

How would we react if we found that one of our players were involved? I'd want them straight out thhe lub, no matter who it was

I agree. I don't normally react full throttle on things like some of the over-reactions in today's society, but once anything is proven, for this I would want them out. I stress though, being investigated, being charged etc would not be enough. I'd wait until found guilty.

If they were found guilty, I'd agree, but I still think you have to work on the presumption of innocence until charges are proven.

Also don't forget that just because someone is arrested it doesn't mean that they will be charged.

I think if charges are brought against a player then he should be suspended by his club pending trial, but he would be entitled to be paid.

PS- I know Oldham sacked the player who was arrested over alleged fixing but there was more to that than meets the eye. Apparently he had a charge for a serious offence hanging over him and he had not notified the club of this when he signed for them.

Dennis Souza. It has to be him if any of our old players. You can't genuinely be THAT shit and earn a professional contract.

I think we have to be clear about what people are being accused of here.

From what I've seen it's spot fixing - i.e. first throw in sort of stuff.

Obiviously, some spot-fixing could influence the outcome of the match (a red card for example) but it's not the sort of match/result fixing stuff we've seen in Italy.
