Paul Dickov has hit back at Mark Duffy’s claims that he was treated unfairly at Doncaster Rovers.
Duffy activated a relegation release clause to join Birmingham City on a free transfer last week.
After sealing his move to St Andrew’s, the 28-year-old tweeted: “Towards the end, I wasn’t treated fairly, which made a very tough decision over the summer slightly easier.”
Rovers manager Dickov, however, has responded by claiming Duffy was injured for most of the end of the season.
Chris Brown is also poised to trigger a release clause to join Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer - but will make the move across the Pennines with Dickov’s blessing.
Dickov said: “There are four or five lads that had clauses in their contracts.
“The club had to protect themselves financially, so that if they went down those players could leave on a free.
“The other players that had that clause have indicated they want to stay.
“A big part of Chris [Brown] would have wanted to stay but the lure of Championship football was too much for him.
“The Mark Duffy one, I don’t know because he’s not been in touch with anyone at the club.
“I know Mark’s come out and said he was disappointed at the end of the season, but he was injured for most it. So I don’t quite know where that one’s come from.
“Browny apart, you get players who want to stay and help the club back up, and other players who want to jump ship quickly,” he added.
“I’d like to think the majority of players want to stay, if we want to keep them.
“I know the fans will be disappointed about Chris Brown leaving. I don’t know so much about Duffy.
“We want a core of players that can, firstly, get us out of this league and, secondly, are together and Championship players for the following season.”

Think PD is spot on there.
The Chris Brown transfer sits fine with me, hes been a loyal servant to the club and this would probably be his last big move to secure his and his familys future. No problem with that at all, good luck to him.
Duffy however ........

Browny owes us nothing. He gave 110% every game, like a fan would for his own team. I don't blame him and wish him all the best.
