Release clauses
« on June 19, 2014, 09:12:33 am by DRNaith »
I fully understand why we used them, if it's the only way we can get some good players to sign for us then that's the route that was taken and now they leave (and maybe on a free).

However, the thing that's only really dawned on me is the attitude of those players during the season and particularly towards the end of the season.  Are they really going to be that fussed about be relegated with Doncaster Rover knowing that teams like Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Hull City are going to pick them up - and probably pay them more than they are on at little Donny?

It can't be right that relegation doesn't hurt them

It's the way of the world unfortunetley...At the end of the day Duffy was here 1 year,he has no real emotional commitment to Doncaster and like the rest of us if the opportunity arises for a better job and money he will take it....When some of the fans go on twitter telling him to F*ck off like some from the facebook group have done..who can blame him...I cant...

Yeah, I fully understand that, I just hadn't for, one minute, considered their on pitch attitude when we need a win to stay up and there's a big, potentially painful, tackle to be made.

I think his parting shot pissed people off, blaming everyone but himself for not getting a regular start

I'm not convinced that it doesn't hurt them to be honest... no one wants a relegation on their CV and it isn't exactly nailed on that they would get a move away either following relegation.

But there were plenty at the club who didn't look like they were up for a fight in that last month of the season.

His parting shot was aimed at Dickov not the club...And who knows he may be right..He claims he was fit but unselected for those last 6 games when we needed a single point....He probably doesn't feel that responsible...He also may think that Dickov doesn't rate him that highly and a fresh start is best for him....Again you cant argue with his logic...Personally I think he is far to inconsistent at championship level but I cant see why everyone is so upset with him

It barely hurts their career, the clubs that they are linked with now would probably be the ones that they would have been linked with had we scraped to stay up.

I'm sure relegation would hurt some, like Browny who ran himself into the ground all season, as for Duffy well he was probably a bit pissed off for an hour or two, then distanced himself from it, using non-selection as his justification. Never mind thinking that he must be crap to not get in the side.
