I wonder
« on July 17, 2014, 10:57:47 pm by BillyStubbsTears »
Summat I chucked in as a bit of musing a month back

http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=247168.msg455809#msg455809

Could THAT be what's gone wrong?

As I said at the time, it was a reasonable theory. My idea- that they needed the time to acquire the Patienceform shares- was clearly wrong as none of those appear to have changed hands.

It does beg the question as to why the Crowdfunder was so poorly marketed amongst Rovers fans though?

You'd have to be a doink to not be able to discern the difference between a pubescent girl and a football supporter, surely?* BUT, as proof of an ongoing, milk-able, revenue stream... Mebbe.

*I'm sure there are cross-overs.

If that was the case (and it's a plausible theory) I just feel like the Crowdfunder project would've been pushed a bit harder from the top. I found the silence staggering, almost suspect. It was as if it was half heartedly put together in a hurried presser, and then hung out to dry.

Unless it was intended to fail, to demonstrate how ungrateful and disengaged the Doncaster public are, before (who knows who?) step in with the investment? I just don't know, but the publicity drive for this certainly wasn't JR like. It was almost hidden. In the absence of any semblance of clarity all we can do is speculate.

But then why primarily aim it at 1D fans?

Jonathan/TRB

But the Rovers fans' support is ALREADY monetised, by us buying tickets and other merchandise. This was supposed to be the Big Idea that would tap into Hair's millions of fans and monetise them for the good (sic) of the club. If (IF!) the plan was to demonstrate to interested investors how the 1-D'ers could be tapped into, then it has failed spectacularly.

I Hope the company mentioned before don't come in,now that the takeover hasn't worked, much prefer Terry and Dick to be at the Helm of the Good Ship Rover.

All very bizarre - complete lack of pushing from LT via Twitter after the first day then the late re-hash of the crowdfunder page and JR joining Twitter (although from the tweets it actually looks as that was Claire Ryans's doing.

Cryptic comments from JR in today's interview about why it didn't succeed.

The image rights was obviously a part of the equation - perhaps the original idea was scuppered and this was a late substitute?

Don't buy that - it was specifically marketed to the 1Ders

@johnmichaelryan

I suspect it's being run by his daughter though. She accidentally posted something about going out with her mates on it last week.

I take it she doesn't have a job at Rovers now as Marketing Manager/Public relations or whatever?

LT has made more Tweets distancing himself from the thing in the last 24 hours than he's made about the Trust in the last 28 days. Once again I'm left scratching my head...

I'd heard that JR and LT fell out a couple of weeks ago regarding money.

Claire appears to have removed that information from Facebook, so it looks like she's no longer working for DRFC.

I think you'll find the club couldn't work it out either!

They underestimated the number of little girls who have money to spend, they would have had more luck if they had done a raffle say £3.00 a ticket, winner picked up from home with the chance to watch a game with Louis. The one thing those girls would have really wanted, time with their object of lust was priced way to high. Most fans can find £3.00 not many can find £250. or what ever it was.

As for the boy himself, I can imagine like any one of you at that age, being absolutely blown away to have someone who in all probability was a hero to him approach him saying pssst Louis, wanna help me buy Rovers.  For a little while he was living every boy's dream.
