Pre contract agreement....
« on July 07, 2014, 10:44:19 am by GazLaz »
Surely the club can use one of these with players to ensure they commit to the club before officially signing on the 17th. Wouldn't be surprised if Bailey, Copps and perhaps Turnbull have already signed one.

If we can keep Turnbull in League 1 I'll be very surprised, albeit over the moon at the same time

I think it would be very odd if he signed ;)

Seriously, I think there'll be a high number of Championship clubs in for him.

How may are in the market for a goalkeeper though? He's good but he wasn't even the best keeper we had last season.

I think we were definitely spoiled with two brilliant goal keepers last season. Turnbull was the best keeper I've ever seen for Rovers, IMO, and Johnstone turned out to be just as good, if not better! He's easily good enough to play at Championship level, but like you say, how many teams need a keeper?

He might want to stay up north as well, not all players want to move all the time. Before he had the fluke up of all time and joined Chelsea he wasn't really renowned as a world beater was he.

As it stands contractually, do we even HAVE a keeper on our books?

No he was out of contract as he signed yet, along with the other three young lads offered contracts.

Hang on: the way I understood it we can't sign anyone on before 18th July, even out of contract players who have played for us before.

Right or wrong?? I'm confused now :-(

I don't think we would be able to sign Turbull for example because although he plyed for us officially he is a free transfer now and on paper would be a signing

Oh! Well now I'm even more confused.
So does that apply to Coppinger, Keegan etc?

It applies to anyone who isn't currently on our books.

Copps, Keegan, Turnbull and McCombe have not or are not training with us at the moment.

Saw something on the Facebook group about those players saying they can't play/train because of insurance? Also saw someone post saying Dickov said they have all been retained.

Can you imagine trying to take the team picture at the minute,we'd have to plump it out with a few fans, with doctored bodies to look like footballers,i'm just imagining ficticious fans Jim from Intake and Barney from Balby with them fake muscle packs on :crying:

That's probably true. That's why we signed Wilson and I think Webber to non-contract terms last time in League One when they were training with us, I seem to remember.

It appears Jamie McCombe is still about  and ready for next season.
