Yet Another Plan Built on Sand

When you are a Smaller club, which we are to get ahead of the 'Big-Boys' on a sustained basis then you need to be,Forward thinking on and off the pitch.
Off the pitch Advertising,The Club shop for example Abysmal at best,Conference Quality, the range of products, the prices out of kilter with the money available, there should be a club catalogue for example offering the chance to buy all these products over a period, they would gain extra custom from people who can't afford cash straight out.
When do you ever see deals in the shop, buy the Shirt, get the shorts free or at a reduced price?,We have opportunities to do affordable signed team pictures, signed player photo's but do them affordable, cut the internet seller out by selling direct from the source, that is trusted.
Catering run it yourself and appoint an experienced Restaurant manager to run it,employ kids who are learning to be chefs, use local experienced food staff from local schools, but local produce and make a big thing of it.

The playing side, get a Good manager,in the long run a good manager will deserve the better pay,Have players such as Coppinger,Rob Jones etc being groomed for eventual chance of being manager.
Create interest in the team,by holding first team training sessions one a week in a different village, hand old merchandise as freebies that would normally be chucked away.
Play local non league side's throughout the season to create links with the club, you help them, then when they get a good player, there's a good chance they will contact you first.
Have a player take charge of a kids team in each village, which will give a good chance of spotting more players early.

More pressure to find players and develop them than, making coaches have to reach targets, free them up to learn the kids more.
Rather than using the loan system, scour non league, free transfers and released players from bigger clubs, the town is a big place because of where it is it's isolated the stadium i mean, have selling points in each village to get and pay for tickets, lay buses on for cheaper than petrol or going on a bus.
Donate kit to local clubs, sponsor clubs,Never relax and always be looking for a better player or member of staff, create small sub shops around the town, get a deal going where you can have any of the past Rovers shirts produced to sell on in the club shop.
Re release copies of the Belle Vue painting print, mirrors any extra things that are not being sold.

Excellent post Sammy. Agree with every word. Have to say I think Dickov's out of his depth. Great guy. Great player. But something's not clicking, obviously.
