No doubt, and you could understand his frustration. "I just wish the town would get behind us". That's what he used to say.

Now is he talking to you? Is he talking to me? Is he talking to those who turn up a couple of times a season, those who come to 10 games?? Those words are not enough to rouse anyone to get off their butts.

Saying things like. Thank to those who came today, they must have been chuffed with the great football we played today. What a great atmosphere. etc. etc etc. That's more likely to have the desired effect.

Jenny on this one I tend  to disagree. I take your point about teams that have the biggest following,  blah blah blah. I have always looked at attendances since a kid, a few years ago now I agree, it's just nice to see how many we have/ are  taking away.
Personally I think it's a bit like being a statto. It bothers no one, it hurts no one and  like to estimate what crowds will be. I don't really see what the problem is.
Unlike other local teams who claim to be M, my team isn't. We are generally a small hard working bunch of fans loyal to the team we adore. On this occasion I don't support an M  club I support th best club. DRFC.

interviews like that used to baffle me because they were pointless. The only people that listenened to the interviews would be DRFC fans that went to games.

Agreed. It used to hack me off no end, especially when I'd made a 200-mile round trip to a game.

My round trip is only 90 odd miles but I always felt that it was counter productive. The regulars would keep going whilst the occasionals would just think nobody is telling me when to go, I'll go when the team or football improves.
It does far more good to find out why people stop attending and then assess the answers and address the problem.

I think there is a difference between taking an interest in attendances and being a statto to constantly banging on about it and berating the support for being crap. Each to their own I guess.

I'm with Jenny on this one. Like she said, there's a difference between asking the question and showing a general interest, and commenting how crap it is and berating others for not going.

In which case I'm with her too . Statto reasons only from now on .....there's far too much gratuitous slagging off on this forum of late .
