Doncaster skools performing badly
« on December 10, 2014, 06:47:58 pm by IC1967 »
Out of 150 local authorities Doncaster comes 146th in the rankings. When are the people of Doncaster going to realise that having a Labour council is a recipe for failure? This is yet another area where the public are being badly let down by useless Labour councillors. What is it going to take before Labour eventually loses power?

I really do despair.

No wonder we have such piss poor politicians given that a monkey could get elected in Doncaster if it was from the Labour party.

Doncaster schools weren't doing well pre-2009.

How simplistic. Labour have been the dominant political force in Doncaster for decades. The town has been badly run for decades. The people of Doncaster have been voting in useless Labour politicians for decades. Having a non Labour mayor with limited powers for a few years has not changed this. Nor was it ever going to.

Its very simple. Labour know they don't have to perform very well in Doncaster because no matter what, they will still get voted in. It makes a mockery of democracy when the electorate are so piss poor at holding them to account.

Bst I see labour are going to tax the rich more,is that advisable as they already pay far more than everyone else and are likely to take there money elsewhere? Also the bedroom tax is wrong in certain circumstances but the majority of times it's right,I no lots of people with 1 child and have 3 bedroom houses and for me that's wrong when they don't need it

Perhaps so, but how soon after someone having their child die for some reason would you slap the tax on them, and how soon would you expect them to downsize?

But they do. Immediately. And then they find they can't downsize so they're stuck with being penalised for the death of their child.

How often does this situation actually arise? Hardly ever. To base your opposition to the spare room subsidy on this situation is ridiculous in the extreme. Even if it did happen there is a contingency fund available to cover exceptional circumstances so that covers it anyway.

Look, it's very simple. If you rent you leave yourself wide open to the whims of the landlord. Anyone that rents in Doncaster needs their heads looking at. It is much cheaper to buy than rent. There are exceptions to this of course, but the vast majority of renters are in a position to buy but can't be bothered to save a deposit. They'd rather spend every penny they get with no thought for the future.

When housing supply is short then the landlord has to make the best use of it. You seem quite happy for a large family to live in cramped conditions and for a small family to have spare rooms coming out of their ears. This is not fair and the coalition should be congratulated on trying to put this right.

As usual Mick, your prejudice precedes your opinion. I'd be happy for someone to be penalised - but only when they've been offered an appropriate alternative property and they've turned it down.

Haven't you bothered checking the number of children who die each year Mick? Go on. You might learn something.

I have better things to do with my time. It is a rare occurrence but as I stated earlier there is a contingency fund available to help families out in this very rare scenario.

Look, it's very simple. If the house you are renting is too big for your needs then you need to make way for a family that needs it more than you. A very socialist perspective if you don't mind me saying. You lefties don't get everything wrong.
