The Christmas schedule demonstrates clearly that it's for the fans. Attendances up and down the country are up because of the holidays and it's becoming a rarity that the vast majority of football fans are devoid of work committments on any one day.

Football and pubs are victims of our 24/7 society, so everyone in the game should be welcoming the chance to play in front of fans who still choose football over other pastimes.

You begin to wonder whether Sunday football should be the norm rather than the exception.
