Evens stevens at half time. Stats look very finely balanced as well.

I see that on the BBC Football live text commentary Furman is only mentioned once, somewhat inevitably "Foul by Dean Furman".

Getting a draw here would be a very good result for South Africa, or as I like to call my new found brethren, Bafana Bafana.

From BBC Live updates:

23 Mins
HITS THE WOODWORK
Algeria 0-0 South Africa
From Bournemouth to Doncaster Rovers and their midfielder Dean Furman has just smashed against the cross bar.

Cruel game. SA should have been 2 or 3 up.

Should have scored the penalty!  Great 2nd goal by the Algerians.

Furman retains the captaincy for tonight's game against Senegal.

If we took the narrowest possible interpretation of Furman's caps won while with Rovers then he would equal Len Graham's record tonight.

My own view is that this is his 16th cap won as a Rover. Some would argue it is his 19th.

I 'me with you TRB - 16 caps

Slightly surprised DROS hasn't said anything

Mixed emotions here. I want South Africa to win because of Furman but in the same breath I want SA to lose.......because of Furman!

So jumping off this fence......Come on Algeria!!!

Finished 1-1. South Africa have to beat Ghana on Tuesday to go through and hope Senegal beat Algeria. Seems like SA are going out. Weak squad to take, Khune, Mahlangu, Masilela, Serero, Erasmus and Patosi would all be in or around the team. The current team lacks creativity and goals.

No mate just being truthful, I take it we haven't signed Abdul Razack as there is no mention of him on Dros not even a  signed subject to international clearance type statement,

However this is a Furman watch thread not that his exploits in Africa have been mentioned on Dros  ;)

Call me a pessimist but I have an awful feeling that the Razak signing has hit a snag. After all, on Monday Dickov was talking about him being available to play on Tuesday.

Dean Furman has been named captain again for SA's match against Ghana tonight. SA must win this game to have any chance of reaching the quarters.

Whether he has 15, 17 or 20 caps as a Rover he will be our most capped player, beating Len Graham's record. My own view is he has 17. Perhaps someone can tell sleepy old DROS!

Ghana just equalised. Which means currently SA will be coming home. Sorry Deano but I just cheered that equaliser!

It'd be grand to hear Brian Bradley commentating on that match, looking at some of the names.

Nhlanhla Khuzwayo
Anele Ngcongca
Bongani Ndulula

I would have thought the SA squad would go to their own country first?
