As I have said numerous times it never stopped Billy from giving the lads their debuts at young ages and probably made them grow up quicker.

Glynn and Ian Snodin 17

Paul Raven 18

Mark Rankine 18

Steve Gaughan 18

Rufus Brevett 19

And you could add Glenn Humphries, Stevie Lister and Dave Harle to that list

Yes ,

Humphries 18, Lister 18 and Harle 17

Agreed - but every one of that lot was comparably better at that age and in that era than most of our recent crops imo!

Have you seen them play though, Alan? I've seen both Lund and Middleton (2 years ago) play full games for the first team and neither looked out of place. Peterson doesn't look quite good enough to cut it at this level. I've not seen enough of Whitehouse to make a judgment.

My mantra is always "if they are good enough, they're old enough." That was Billy Bremner's too.

I have trb - not enough times for me as I'd like unfortunately tho! I like to keep a track of the younger ones I've taught and coached and hopefully one or two of those will get their chances in the next 2-5 years somewhere! I do like the look of some of the older lads to! Imo have good futures ahead of em - both mckay lads, lund and middleton will get a decent run in and around the team at some point in the near future! Am not sure petersen will cut it with us tho! They are certainly one of the best bunches of the last 10 years and I hope many of them get there chance somewhere!

You DO realise that we've lost only one of our last 8 games, and that in the League we've  picked up 12 points from the last 6 games and 17 from the last 10, losing just one in this 10 games?

You do realise that don't you, when you say we should drop our strikers and play an unproven kid or a centre half up front?

BST
Are you happy with our current strikeforce? Can you imagine our points return if we actually had someone who can put the chances away?
I must agree that putting Mc Combe up front (please god no) or playing a youth team player (too early could ruin him) isn't the answer. We DO need a proven goalscorer, and PD acknowledges this BUT they are very difficult to get hold of.

Surely that's the point BST was making? That using kids is not a sensible answer.  I don't see him saying that our strikers are the bees knees. Do you?

He has recently defended their goals to games ratio.

Of course I'm not happy with our strikers' goal returns. I'd have thought that went without saying.

What I AM very happy with is the overall team form. We're in promotion form and suggesting that we take a daft gamble on team selection sea to me to be...well...daft.

As for my comments on our strikers' career scoring records, I made them to address a couple of comments suggesting that our strikers have always been shit goalscorers. They haven't. They all have decent career average returns. Which suggests that they are out of form.

So BST in these 10 games, how many goals have Main & Robinson scored?

I think the point is that despite a not great return from our strikers, the team is as a whole doing well results wise.

Yes the goalscoring could (and should) be better, but we are not exactly at crisis point are we?

I don't know. I haven't looked.

You know what? If we get 17 points from every ten games from now to the end of the season, that'll do me just fine, regardless of how many our strikers score because we'll  have 71 points and we'll be in the play offs.

If we could sign a better striker, I'd be as happy as a pig in shit. But in the absence of that, I'd far rather stick with what we've got than take a daft and unnecessary gamble.

Jack Collinson has been on soccer AM this morning saying he just wants to play for remainder of the season and is prepared to join a lower league club (L1)
Is prepared to move with his young family if it means he can play 15 games to end of season.
Don't think he would be expensive, the lad just seems to want the opportunity to play so he can get his career back on track and earn a contract next season.

OK he has not played for a while, will be a bit rusty but surely able to score from some of the many chances we are creating at present?

Jack Collison is a midfielder. And not even a particularly attacking one. Would definitely take him here but I doubt he would score many.

Would provide more quality in the midfield, somebody suggested him in the rumour mill, probably not a priority but a deal till the end of the season, he's playing and we get another quality player.
