the changing face of football
« on February 16, 2015, 10:04:12 am by acko »
as more t.v money is poured into the game the changes are going to happen faster than people thought. For prem clubs the priority is to maintain that status.i don't think we are too far away from prem 1 and 2 or even euro league, and sorry to say it but if you are not there you will be left to swim.Competitions like the F.A cup and to a lesser extent league cup no longer carry the same aura as years gone by which is a great pity, but it goes to show when teams like Derby and Sunderland make 7 or 8 changes to the team when the quarter final is beckoning that is no disrespect to Bradford but it shows Derby and Sunderlands prioritys.Even winning the prem is no longer a priority top 4 is what matters. When the parachute payments was introduced it was designed to help relegated clubs pay the wages of contracted players, to most that is no longer the case players now have clauses wrote into contracts allowing them to leave if relegated bit like Rovers last season.it just gives a advantage financially to teams relegated a lot mre than teams promoted from league 1.Sad to say it but its true

This has already been happening for years.

As long as folks continue to attend their local clubs, they will survive.  It is/will be much more difficult to break into the premiership - the championship is populated with many ex-prem clubs.  So for TLOD to get to the top division we need IMHO a combination of young talent, shrewd signings, great form and luck with no injuries etc to give us any chance.  We're never going to be on an even playing field financially - FFP puts paid to any arguments over massive owner investments.

I think there is plenty of life in our game yet...

The FL is waiting for QPR to get relegated to whack them with a big fine for breaking the FFP rules whilst last in the Championship.

Is there any sanction facing Leicester if they come back down?
Would have thought it very likely that they may have breached FFP in their charge for the Prem

The difference is that QPR have publicly stated they won't pay the fine imposed. The FL aren't waiting to fine them, their intention is to stop them from playing in their competition.

Nothing will happen except QPR will pay a (probably reduced) fine with the parachute payments they receive for failing to stay in the promised land of the premiership. They will then overspend again trying to get back there whilst the toothless FL will continue to do sweet FA (apptopriate acronym) except a slap on the wrist fine. Send them to the conference and I'll believe FFP has a future! Not going to happen I'm afraid!

Thanks SM but do we know if Leicester are due to face any fine? We have all heard about QPR and what the League "intend" to do but I've heard nor read anything about Leicester.

ravenrover,

Yes.  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2863831/Leeds-Leicester-QPR-clubs-facing-transfer-bans-fines-spending-Championship.html

But I'm sure I read somewhere that Leicester intended to pay their fine. I also think they've done some restructuring of their debts and other financial moves to eliminate total debt at the club.
