bywater

Not had a great deal to do until saturday. So I couldn't form an opinion until now.

We can do alot better in getting a goalkeeper in the summer.

Bywater, thanks but no thanks

You can't judge a player on one game.

We would be looking at a new team for next season if we judged every player on one bad game

Crikey! You're basing opinions on THAT game.
Bywater had a personal stinker on Saturday but has been solid up to now and I reckon PV was a freaky one-off.
Wabarra had a rotten day as well and most of the back 4 came away with egg, beans and chips all over their faces (Stevens was OK'ish though).
Don't really belly ache much about refs or conditions as both teams have to deal with them but we just made some bad mistakes on a pitch that was a shocker.
It was a mess from about 15.10 and just got worse. Some of Bywater's mistakes were pitch related and OK he had a dog of a day, but on that basis to say 'Bywater, thanks but no thanks' is plain daft.

Veseli said he only attempted the 30 yarder that resulted in their second goal because of the weather and pitch conditions.

I'd been asking all who would listen for 10 mins before that goal why we don't just have a shot and let the ice/mud/bobbles cause the goalie problems instead of tippy tappying around the edge of the area when he hit his shot and, lo and behold, it did just that!

I'm sorry I was listening to the commentary and I just didn't hear you say anything . But for what it's worth I'd been shouting at the radio about the same and I got the deaf ear as well . :headbang:

Was not there and he did not have a great game for sure but ....

... have attributed a lot of our recent "good form" to the solidity he and Butler have brought to the defence

I didn't go to Port Vale but by some accounts Rovers didn't attempt many shots and in fact pulled out and passed instead on occasions.

I reckon our improvement since the Walsall game was down to us having more shots at goal against Crawley and Crewe. Why did we resort back to a lack of shooting attempts, especially when the conditions cried out for it?

Maybe then Port Vale's keeper might have received similar criticism.

There are no excuses for what happend. It was just an awful error. He could have done better with all the goals.

Having watched the goals, he certainly wasn't helped by the rest of the players,
Why was wabara so far behind the guy who was clean through? And why did nobody close the guy down for the 2nd? If keegan was playing that 2nd goal wouldn't have happened.

I'd concur with most on here about the general Bywater overview. Just had a bad day but on the whole he's been a good addition.
But you're right Dickos1. Wabarra had a stinker on a par with Bywaters.
Minutes into the game Boom Boom McCoombe was having to come across and cover the right hand side as Wabarra was getting done time and time again. Wabarra's been OK recently but there wasn't much defending going on down our right and he just seemed clueless on Saturday. Back 4 were getting pulled all over the shop and the deteriorating conditions just added to the mess.
Hopefully that bad'un Saturday will have em straining on their leashes for tonight.
Onward and upward lads and lasses.
