All right then. The lad I sat next to in Maths lessons at Danum ended up being the keyboard player with an early 80's band called 'The Europeans', and, after them, took Fish's spot as lead singer in Marillion. He's still their lead singer to this very day. Lives Oxford way now.He had two drop dead gorgeous sisters too......... Lived in Intake on Avoca Ave or Road or some name like that they did.BobGPS Fred Waring. Anyone else remember that bugger at Danum?
No. It wasn't that. It was a shorter road name. It was a turning off to the left down Sandringham Road nearer the fire station end than the docs surgery. It didn't run paralell to Leger Way. It ran towards the back of the hospital basically. It wasn't Avoca. I might get it if I sit here long enough.... It was slightly longer than that I think. Abelard? No. That's silly. It began with an A definitely.Ardeen???? That's a bit more like it.Bob
Guns n roses with faster pussycat just as appetite for destruction was released at notts Rock city.
Bob G - I think you mean the Bangles. Always thought the tall ones looked like men but Susanna Hoffs was incrediby tasty.
New Order, Sheffield Roxy 1987 & London Troxy 2011 were the best times I've seen them.Stone Roses, Leeds 1989 & Bridlington Spa 1994ish & Manchester 2013Frank Turner/Green Day, Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester 2010Frank Turner, Old No 7, Barnsley, 2014 - only 100 people there.CarterUSM (Too many gigs to mention or pick a favourite)The Wedding Present, Electric Avenue (or whatever it was called then), Doncaster, 1991ishInspiral Carpets, Toby Jug (demolished), 1989ishI was at weddoes gig beach buggy supported and Mr Gedge cracked a stage invader with his guitar , had some ctacking nights at leadmill seeing whoever was on but favourite has to be Charaltans last year at Brudenell social club in leeds
It should have been one of the best gigs I'd been to but they were just a little bit ahead of their time. Sex Pistols at the Outlook on 27th September 1976. Monday nights at the Outlook used to be rock night. However once punk started coming on the scene we found our rock bands had been replaced with punk bands. The Sex Pistols performed to a crowd of about 25 'rockers' and 1 punk. We all watched in horror apart from the 1 punk who was verbally abused throughout by some of the rockers. It was the crappest gig I'd ever been to. My mate shouted out 'get off you're f***ing crap' to which Johnny Rotten replied 'f*** off'. That was the highlight of the evening. We were all so disappointed. No guitar solos. No intricate melodies. A seeming lack of ability of all who were in the band. The realisation that our regular rock night was becoming punk night.Fast forward 6 months and I loved punk, especially the Sex Pistols. I will always regret to my dying day not appreciating what I saw that night. And if you were the 1 punk there that night then I salute you and apologise abjectly for the behaviour of some of the rockers towards you.

Maybe I'm thinking of another gig there around that time, Bridewells and The Playground Chairs, maybe?
Also memorable because it was the first time I'd been allowed to drive my Mum's Mini Metro out of Donny and we accidentally set it on fire near Blyth on the way back
It was October 92 at the Ritzy Rob , some of the songs are featured on a video, Would have loved to have seen Bridewell taxis though

They were brilliant live. I remember seeing them at the Toby Jug on North Bridge once and the Trombonist never turned up. Turned out he'd gone to see James play in Manchester instead.
