play offs or not
« on March 02, 2015, 01:08:06 pm by acko »
having time on my hands ive studied the league one position,i considered  present form, future fixtures and present position.this is what I came up with the top 5 at the moment will remain with Bristol and mk going up,for the 6th position I narrowed it down to 7 teams, rovers, brad city, rochdale, port vale, Fleetwood,,Barnsley and peterboro.Of these rovers and port vale have the hardest fixtures. So with that it will take an enormorse effort from the rovers to obtain the 6th spot.our home form is going to be vital from now on in.i think any team getting 70 points will be enough maybe 67,Preston and sheff unt could hold the key.All things considered I feel rovers at best will finish 8th,6th to Peterboro and Barnsley 7th.I don't expect people to agree but its my opinion and my monies down. One fact I came up with only the current top 5 have a better away record than rovers

You should put your money on Barnsley not making the play-offs.

Have Peterborough appointed a new manager yet or have they confirmed a caretaker for the season? Seems a very brave bet given their current managerial state. It's still early days but for me but I'm not sure its a 7 horse race.

Acko, you claim your analysis is based on three things: Present form, future fixtures, and present position. Yet...

Present position = 6th, 3 points clear.
Current form = Last 6 matches (3rd), Last 10 matches (5th)
Fixtures = Rovers record vs. top half teams is: W4 D5 L6

That is, 17 points in 15 games. Add to that we still have to play lower opposition, it means all we have to do is maintain this form against the top of the table teams, we don't have to get better or worse.

In other words, I disagree with what you're saying. The 3 things you mention in fact suggest we will make the play-offs.

And just to add to that, Peterborough are 17th and 16th in the form tables and Barnsley are 10th and 9th.

I agree what you say copps I also said that our home form was vital to our success, peterboros fixtures look easier than ours and others, and you know yourself current league positions can change dramatically in this league, one thing I never do when I put money down is let my heart rule my head and ive never been afraid to back my judgement,

I let my heart rule my judgment sometimes; got a tenner at 17/1 for Rovers to get promotion through playoffs  :silly:

Copps himself was saying "next week" outside the stadium on Saturday.  He was there mingling with fans before the game and everyone was asking him when he was going to be back.

As me and Mrs LongbridgeMGRover have decided NOT to go away on the Bank Holiday Weekend, leaving me free to go to Wembley, it is now certain that they will miss out on a top six place.

Despite not really being an optimist I too have crossed out the P/O final weekend from the list of weekends where me and my girlfriend could potentially go away in April/May!

Anyone know what day and time the L1 play off final is that weekend ?
Just realised its the same weekend as the Rugby League Magic Weekend in Blackpool. Was hoping to watch Dons there depending on the day. Grrr

17:30 on Sunday 24 May.

If we make it, I'm at my bleeding cousin's wedding in Robin Hood's Bay the night before.

b*llocks. That gives me precisely 50 minutes to get from Blackpool to London. It'll be tight, I hope the motorway's clear....
