It would be good if the Players just gave up doing it ... it does (or can) ruin many a game and should be stopped but I don't see a petition holding any sway with the governors of the game

Look at goal line technology - took so long to get approval and yet still only applying in Premiership.

When all the fans are totally disenchanted with "the beautiful game" and the Attendances make it not viable for the smaller Clubs to survive THEN the rulers may think they need to act and it will be way way too late of course

Most hated phrase in football punditry - often heard uttered by Shearer

"he felt contact so he's entitled to go down"

Where the chuff does it say that in the rules?

It doesn't..

But the rules also say that a foul can be committed and a yellow card awarded where a player "attempts" to kick, trip etc an opponent - therefore a freekick/penalty can be given even where there is no contact at all.

Half the problem is the ref won't give a foul unless the player goes down,if a ref starts giving fouls when the player is still on his feet, they might not dive as much

Here's a radical idea. A few (3 or 4 would be enough) managers - 'the good guys' - get together and publicly announce that no players in their team will dive or simulate - any player caught doing so (using the club's video footage if necessary) will be fined heavily the first time and dropped indefinitely the second time. Then when referees catch on those teams will hopefully get penalties when their players do go down, and increasingly other teams might get fewer penalties and more red cards etc. Then more and more managers jump on the bandwagon of fair play...........

And then I woke up  :(

Waste of time. As Vince Lombardi once said     'win at all costs'
Do what you can to win inside or outside the rules. Any advantage you an get in sport is a good one whether you agree with it or not. It comes down to what you rather be known as either a winner or a good sport.

Agreed and as I hinted at above why the game is "f*****"

Tony Pulis came out and said he told Berahino that players in his team he doesn't want them diving.

What did he tell them about cheating the laws of the land and doing 96mph in a 60 zone

mmmm ... maybe he should do the diving and they should do the driving
