Never quite as good as his Dad thought he was - showed potential but level dropped off then

He did have potential. As often the case nowadays, a lad who was distracted by the label and consequently fell off the tracks.

Yes he was their linesman when I watched Stainy play them. Came on for a player who got injured. His brother was also playing too.

Never really rated him when I saw him, I think a lot of our fans did purely in the hope that "one of our own" would come good.

Poor attitude as well. I sat in front of him one game and he spent the entire game saying to his mates "Lee Martin is shite". Must have said it a dozen times in 90 minutes. Despite the fact that this lad was actually playing whilst he was nowhere near the squad, let alone the first team, at the time.

Who did Lee Martin play for? I don't recall him playing for us.

Only one of them made a career out of it
It's an outrage that we went so long with no youth players making it through ranks

Posted today on a Harrogate Town fans Facebook group;

Congratulations to Craig Nelthorpe, scoring the WINNER in his debut for Australian side Mornington in a 2-1 win over Clifton Hill in the baking Aussie sunshine.

He played for Harrogate at Barrow earlier this season, he is also one of many ex Rovers to play for Barrow, although he was only on loan for a couple of months.

He had potential, I saw him in a couple of games, and I have heard/read a lot about his attitude.

But I will throw this in, we had a Rovers do at Skellow Grange, and he was there with Adam Lockwood, Andy Liney/Donny Dog was there and John Ryan called in and gave a rallying speech.

It was a great night and raised money.

Adam Lockwood and Craig Nelthorpe were Doncaster Rovers representatives on the night, and both were a credit to DRFC.
