We could do with a couple of commanding centre halves.

Bongani Khumalo

Plenty of Barnsley fans rated John O'sullivan. Nicky Maynard, Jake Cassidy and Dorus De Vries maybe? Who knows.

The positions I think we need to strengthen are goalkeeper, CB to partner Butler and a striker.

I personally don't think GK should be a priority. Bywater has been at fault for a couple of goals, but he is 10x better than Woods, and I'd say he's as good as Sullivan was in his last season with us, both of whom we achieved promotion with.

CB, Defensive midfielder and a striker for me. And a decent replacement for Wellens, if he ever gets subbed next season?!?!?

A RB who can defend would be a great addition.

I'd like to see a CB that doesn't look like he's running in three foot of mud

We need a leader on the pitch - a la Jonesey.

Someone with a win at all costs and die before we concede mentality

Lewis price - experienced keeper
John lundstram - we all know he's good enough
John guidetti - maybe worth a try to get? Seeing as he has the quality
Khumalo - like lundstram we all know about him

Just a few players I saw that could be worth a try to sign but looking at both lists overall, there is some quality players out of contract but also a lot of youngsters at big clubs that may not get resigned by their clubs, so could be worth a shout to maybe have a look at them?? I agree that we need a few leaders on the pitch.

Just a thought with him being on one of them lists mate haha but like I say plenty of young players on that list that could be worth a punt at.

Not sure that Lundstram has progressed though -still playing in league one ?

Couldn't really tell you myself tbh mate but I'm just going off past experience of when he played for us... Like I say I just picked a few players out there that I thought might be good enough off that list.. You just never know tho

Lundstram has looked poor every time I've seen him since he left us. Gudietti is top class, got the same chance of signing him as we have signing George Best.

Think I'm going to have to rethink this one then 🙈 haha seriously tho we do need to strengthen the spine of the team and I think that's where we should start but just my opinion. Like I say I mentioned guidetti because you just never know what could happen

Out of those mentioned these are a few who are interesting, some we would have a chance, some possible some unlikely.
YANN SONGO'O CH 23 Years old, 6ft 1 in Played for Blackburn only app in pre season and lge cup, on loan at Ross county last season, played for numerous American clubs--***Very Good signing and we would have a chance

STEPHANE ZUBAR 28 CH 6ft 2 in Bournemouth, Plymouth,York, Bury, has Championship experience with Plymouth, been on loan at York, since joining they're defence has tightened up***Very good signing good chance of getting him

JONATHAN DOUGLAS 33 CM, Can play the 'Keegan role', Brentford, Swindon, Leeds, Blackburn, played a lot in the team for Brentford this season, if they go up possible he won't be retained***Ideal signing, unlikely he would drop to lge 1

BEN PRINGLE 25 AM Rotherham, Derby and Torquay, played a lot of games this season, the word is he could be one of the surprise releases to free up funds for improving the squad***Excellent signing, unlikely to want to drop to lge 1

MARK WADDINGTON 18 years old, made 3 apps this season, already been said by Clark he would like to keep him but unlikely he will be able to, a few times sniffing around, we would have to be quick***Good potential, unlikely we can beat bigger clubs we will get blown out of the water

MARTYN WOOLFORD 29 Left wing, Millwall, Bristol c, Scunthorpe, York, impressed me way back when playing for York, was the best in the conference, slow as a snail but the quality of his final ball is exceptional compared to most wingers, 33 apps/ 3 goals/ 2 assists for Millwall,
if they release him he is a Yorkshire lad**Excellent signing we have needed a true left winger for a long time, a possible this one

PADDY McCourt 31 Left wing/A mid, Very similar to Coppinger unplayable on his day, Brighton, Notts c, Barnsley, Celtic, 10 apps/ o goals/ o assists for Brighton, good chance he will be released and i think he would join us**Very good signing, good chance of getting him

ANDY HALLIDAY 23 A. Mid Bradford, Middlesbro, Walsall, Livingston, spent too long wasting away in Boro's reserves, has made 22 apps/ 1 goal/ 3 assists for Bradford***Good signing not sure he will leave Bradford

CHARLIE WYKE 22 Striker, Middlesbro, Carlisle, signed until 2016 with Carlisle 27 apps 10 goals 2 assists***Very good up and coming player get in now before the value goes up

TOM BARKHUIZEN 21 Striker, spent his early years loaned at to Hereford did okay, loaned to Morecambe didn't work out, stagnating in the Blackpool reserves, 5 apps 0 goals, 0 assists****A Gamble signing has potential.

ZELI ISMAIL 21 years old, right winger, Wolves, Notts c, Burton, 14 apps, 4 goals 0 assists, very quick good crosser of the ball, possible if Wolves release him***Very good signing, possible

MARTIN PATERSON 27 Striker, Huddersfield, currently on loan at Orlando City, hasn't got a future at Huddersfield, Northern Ireland international***Good signing if we can get his confidence back

JAKE CASSIDY 22 Striker Wolves, Southend and Tranmere, 16 apps 3 goals, 1 assist, i think Wolves will release him, i can't remember if Southend signed him permanent, if not we would have a good chance.***Good signing if he can regain confidence

SIMON CHURCH 26 Charlton, Reading, Welsh international 12 apps 2 goals 2 assists, a good chance Charlton will release him**Good signing a possible

ANDY LONERGAN 31 GK Bolton, Leeds, Preston, Wycombe, 29 apps 44 goals, i think Bolton will release him, as they will want to improve and get someone better***Very solid keeper, a possible to drop into lge 1

Genuine question Sammy. Do you have a professional role in football somewhere, or just spend a lot of time on the internet? Always enjoy reading the many well thought out suggestions that we are never going to sign.

I'm with you Fill plus a striker that doesn't know what a banjo is and puts the ball away in the onion net.
I'm not sure about the stats but I believe we have spurned more opportunities to score this season than in any other of my 40+ years of watching our team play.

I can understand a poor team not creating chances but a "supposed" good team on paper spurning chance after chance after chance is particularly galling. :(
