Belles stuff again
« on July 29, 2015, 05:33:37 pm by graingrover »
The head of Womens' Super League football declares their intention to increase the top 2 leagues to 24 teams by 2017 but part of the deal is that
1 clubs have  Full time professionals

2 have average crowds of 400 at least by 2017.

Let's hope Rovers fans can swell the support to well over 1,000 a game after the 1,270 present v Man City.

24 clubs with full time professionals?
A recipe for financial disaster.
Who are these clowns who dream up these rules?

I think that's likely to be quite a tall order Brian. It suggests an increase in attendance of something like 80% ish over 2 seasons. It shosuld increase if we get promoted this time around, but history isn't very encouraging about it sticking. As for full time players, hmmmm. Know any good banks to rob?

Sounds like the goalposts are being moved again. Just when the Belles might make WSL1.

The thing is Bob if they don't go full time they cannot be accepted into the top Division under these new dictates .Promotion for the top two is subject to them going fully professional  i.e full time.

I don't see the problem. This is for new clubs coming into WSL over the next couple of years. As such there is no issue whatsoever about promotion between the two leagues ie all's well for the Belles who are already in the WSL.

It's seems to be a statement of aims to improve the game, not absolute fixed conditions at this stage.

Do you know that fora fact Brizzle? The alternative view is that to play at the top you will have to be full time. If that doesn't apply to existing members of the WSL, can you imagine the outcry that is going to provoke? I don't buy it. Sorry.

Attendances are getting better of late, does anybody think it might be because of the World cup?, pushing a thousand people is respectable for the women's game i would think, i have seen the Dons get less.

The World Cup plus the games against two top teams have attracted more as has the generous offer to Rovers' season ticket holders .Here's hoping the attendances hold above the 600 mark when they get back to the League matches .

Both the Belles management and the Board have now been able to assess what needs to be done to reach the top level in the WSL.

Good attendance and as said let's hope we can see this season through to a successful promotion.

Generally, you wonder after the world cup effect crowds will settle back, unless the WSL and the clubs work hard to maintain publicity.

Liverpool were by far the better team, but the second and third goals could have been fouls on the Belles, obstructing the keeper and a blatant push on the halfway line. At least 2 of the 3 officials were not up to the job. IMO.

good pic Dave ! When you think that both Man City and Liverpool are full time professional clubs and our girls are part time and travel many hours from work to train in Donny twice a week .... it make me feel proud to call myself a fan . So I bought a Concessionary season ticket for 25£ to show my support ! Think about it guys !I think our  Rovers fan base could REALLY help launch the Belles support . Our Black Bank initiative shows how we can generate passion .

One really  cool thing Vikings could do for Belles is to help them set up ( Sarah Maye Supporetrs' club Chairperson) a Belles forum for their burgeoning fan base . I am sure the usual contributors to good causes on here would help finance the setting up and running costs . Anybody willing to help could PM me on here .

Does anyone ever see or hear of Ade Sill these days? He's a ready made, hand crafted shoe in for that sort of stuff Brian. And he knows, or knew anyway, the Belles inside out. 10 years ago he was running all sorts of stuff for them - and he'd done it for ages. He has the skills and he might be tempted back.

Adrian is his name really Brian. Ade is just what he's called. His Dad had a lot to do with the Belles as well - but it's all several years ago. I've neither seen nor heard of Ade for probably 8 or 9 years now. I think he's London ish based, working in marketing. But I could be wrong.
