40 years of supporting Rovers

On the 18th of October it will be the 40th anniversary of me seeing my 1st Rovers match, beat Swansea 2-1,so I was thinking today during my mundane day at my boring job about the best players  I have seen in a Rovers shirt,  either before they went on to bigger and better things or at the end of their careers. So I've come up with the following :-

He came on as a sub at home vs Southport, and was introduced over the PA as "the finest player to ever grace Belle Vue”. I recall turning to the Mrs and saying "this should be interesting".
I was wrong.

I think the OP's point was based on their overall career, rather than just how they played for Rovers. Based on that, mine (20 odd years watching the Rovers) would probably be:

Admittedly a few of them were toss in a Rovers shirt, but there's a lot of international caps in there and a lot of top league experience. As well as a couple of cart horses up top!

Edit: I don't actually remember seeing either Deane or Brevett, thy left when I was a toddler, but I did attend a game they were playing. If it has to be players I remember I'd probably put Chimbonda in at the back and Billy in up top (although you could possibly make a case for Gareth Taylor).

Strange how some players fade in the memory and others stand out to become club legends.

Rob jones? Legend. Steve Roberts? Forgotten.
Chris Brown? Legend. Neil Roberts? Forgotten.

No, I'm not related to them lol! Just picked out examples of players I admired at the time and (for me) players of similar skills, roles, committment and attributes.

I agree with this sentiment - therefore mine from 1985(ish) would resemble - although I'm sure there's plenty I've forgotten and many of these were fleeting visitors to Rovers or in some cases utter tripe in our shirt!
