Andy Williams
« on August 19, 2015, 10:47:33 pm by Cramby10 »
Saw my first live game of the season tonight. Saw the Leeds game on TV. And I have to say I'm very impressed with Andy Williams. But what really upsets me is that if dickov continues to send his team out to aimlessly lump the ball forward to the lad and hope he makes something of it with little or no support from the midfield then this poor lad will be on his knees come Christmas. Credit to him that he keeps going but such shameful tactics are not sustainable on him.
On the game itself, it's the usual unwatchable garbage that we've been served up for the last two years. Didn't expect anything else.

He is good for sure - looks v promising but I hope he loses the "being pulled about routine" as some of our past Players have done

Also very lucky nit to get Carded for the extreme dissent in First half after seemingly being fouled

...BUT he has the ability for sure

He strikes me as a bit of a more mobile Chris Brown.

I sincerely hope he keeps a positive attitude as he was a shining light in an otherwise awful team performance tonight. I wonder if he wonders what he has done moving here. We built a team around Billy Sharp. Doesn't take a genious to work out we play to the strengths of a 22 goal striker. My only fear is that we don't have the tactical nous to do that (or a manager capable of building it) if tonight or whenever I remember a good home league performance is anything to go by. We have not yet actually scored a goal in open play (properly), speaks volumes. I will be sad if Williams goes bad as a result of the formation and (lack of) tactics we can all see.

Tonight's problem was we started ponderous and struggled to raise the tempo.  They were there for the taking and we set out so cagey I thought we were playing Man Utd on orders to keep it tight til half time.  Their keeper even cracked a tinny or two in the first half, he had that little to do.

So on that basis use Williams undoubted ability and play to his strengths. Too often he was chasing scraps, hoping to get a pass from Wellens or Copps or Harry when they werren't trying impossible shots/passes going nowhere. Copps was truly awful tonight so he was never going to give the man any service. He just looked completely frustrated....well done Dickov, lets see how long his motivation lasts.....

He'll be next on Dickov's long list of under performing strikers. I feel sorry for him already.

Williams wants faster balls in to him, crosses into the box to attack, and some bloody protection from referees.  He takes a right battering every game.

Yeah I'd agree with that. I hope they start playing to his strengths though and stop launching the high ball towards him. He's getting frustrated as fcuk.

You mean like the one on one at Wigan that was "hoofed" upto him or the effort he had against Leeds  when Trumbull made a good save after good football through the middle.
Or the header he should've done better with against Leeds??

You're picking out isolated incidents during 90 minute games just so you can disagree for the sake of it. Becoming boring.

No really no, if your getting 3 good chances every 3 games you should be scoring a lot of goals throughout the season

Isolated incidents? They were all great chances, I'm arguing because I think it's a load of crap.
Blaming the manager when someone misses a one on one or decides to head a ball across goal rather than at goal, or a keeper making a great save..
It's crap

Or the superb cross put in by Coppinger against Bury that he didn't quite reach. Our best chance of the game that won't appear on any stats.
