I disagree. I think it adds a human touch to his otherwise earnest character. I see that picture and get an urge to go over there, run my fingers through his hair and whisper gently in his ear 'there there Paul, everything's going to be all right'.

It was an interesting journey to say the least.

Whilst he was asleep one of his kids must have text him the link on Facebook or Twitter.

He woke up just as we entered the outskirts of stockport, his phone then rang again so I said 'Is that Chris Brown?' he said to me that he's not fit, so I said 'If it's Wellens, he's past it'.

He then shook my hand and said that's some good banter, I've got 3 kids on social media. So had a brief chat with him, but told him that after performances like Port Vale he needs to  applaud the fans, it really wound me up. He said it wound him up and that he's noted what I've said. Down to earth guy though I will add.

Down to earth guy though I will add.

I think everyone who has met him or listened to him in person would say the same thing. He has always come across well at meet the owners, supporters club meetings etc and seems a really nice guy.
