Oldest starting line up..

... on average in league one

http://experimental361.com/2015/11/10/player-usage-in-the-football-league/

Interesting article. Confirms a couple of things we knew; Rovers on average have the oldest starting-line up in league one and Rotherham have named the most 'unique starters' in the championship.

But also denies some things we thought we knew; Rovers have the used the 7th highest number of players in league one this season (small squad/budget?, maybe not).

Wripped from the dingles forum.

Burton have shown (so far) that team spirit can take you a long way - only 20 players used this season; the lowest in L!
How far can that squad take them though when injuries and tiredness kick in is another question...

The 3 teams who have used the fewest players are interestingly Gillingham, Walsall and Burton. 3 of the top 4 (all three only used 20 players so far). You can obviously look at that a few ways - either they haven't had to change their squads because they are winning so many games or they genuinely have small squads and will struggle to maintain form as the season goes on.

I have a feeling that one or more of those teams will slowly drop off as we progress.

Interesting. But with wellens now not playing I bet that's dropped it.  We have a decent balance now I would say throughout.

I still think Rovers to finish above Burton is a good bet and a really good price at 10/1 with Skybet...

..and last game of season Rovers v Burton, could be very interesting, promotion might be riding on the result.

Was this the game where you could use the ticket stub towards getting a ticket for the Arsenal game or something? That seems to ring a bell.

The Swansea keeper that day had an absolute belter of the game. Yet our winner came from him spilling it if I remember rightly! Hit the winner into the away end, too.

Many thanks Idler & Dutch-i think you are right ,i remember something about the ticket stub and the Arsenal match now you have jogged my memory -Also i was surprised about the cost 10 years ago-on the pop.side £15 then for a league one match !! taking into account inflation what would that relate to today ?

That season Swansea ended up losing at Cardiff (presumably to the delight of the locals) in the Playoff Final on penalties to Barnsley. Things have have turned around somewhat for those two clubs since then.

Current Swansea manager Garry Monk played for Swansea that day, and Ade Akinfenwa came on as a sub.

I think non-ST holders had to buy the tickets for the Swansea and Arsenal games together?  I did that, but couldn't go to the Swansea match, so I passed it on to a fellow supporter..

I seem to remember a lot of spare tickets floating around that day.
