I'll translate MikeF 's last post.

The Bog is an Ideal Standard with a Chain pull flush in that Pub

Sounds dead authentic to me.

Boring bringing this up again I suppose but I suggested we could do a review of places VSC Forum posters had been after winning something in Lottery draw - for exactly this reason

If Gary Megson eats and drinks in there it should be ok. As long as the food is fresh and there's no trace of maggots it will be fine

If I ever win again I'll happily start that thread over in the O/T forum.

Decent grub to be fair. I normally go for the 20oz steak!. Decent for parking too, pay and display car park but take the voucher off your ticket and the price of the parking gets deducted from your bill.

The bloke who used to be the landlord at the Tut & Shive has recently jumped ship to be the landlord over at Cumberland. Not sure if one of them Gourmet Society cards gets you discount at Cumberland too.

And apparently now wishes he'd never moved,

The Cumberland used to be amazing! It was a pub that sold grub, whereas now, it's a restaurant that sells beer!

They used to have a 'GIANT' menu, where you order pub favourites, such as; Lasagne, Burgers, Steaks, etc. and it was an unbelieveable (and tasty) portion!

With both outlets being owned by Greene King (I am pretty sure) he has maybe been head hunted by them ? Doing well at T&S = running something bigger ?

I think he wanted to move on from the Tut, but he's not been able/allowed to implement the changes he wanted to make at the Cumberland ie make it more of a pub

Unfortunate.... as someone else posted its a Restaurant that sells beer now like the Marstons I have been in.

They are not the places you go for a session - even given the 4 Beers all brewed by them

I used to work at a hungry horse as my first job here in Scarborough. I remember once I noticed the "beef burgers" used for their gourmet burger etc was actually made from Brazilian zebu's. S that should give you an inclination. If you don't mind eating cheap food then you are fine, it's boil in the bag or ding cuisine.
