Great story from Black Bank's finest steward Jan Milner.

I have a number of times this season, fed back about what a credit Jan is to the club and we could do with getting her cloned for all areas of the ground.
Black Bank was always going to have a few teething issues and over zealous stewarding could have easily damaged it in its early days.
Jan and the stewards based at the top of that stand are as much a part of Black Bank as the paying fans. They're respected by all and they celebrate a win and console a loss like we do.
In a year where stewarding has been a hot topic, its always great to hear some amazing examples that exist within the ground and just as good to see Jan get some national recognition, even if it isn't for her work as a steward.

Completely agree Wes. If all stewards had the same amount of common sense and understood football as much as Jan does there'd be hardly any issues in the ground.

She coaches a kids team i seem to remember reading as well, very frustrating when you can't play the game any more, walking football sounds a great way for friendships to be made, and a bit of competition for people who love testing their abilities, a great idea!.

Jan used to come down to Westfield Park in Balby and watch us lads play football. She really knew her stuff and would give us really good advice. Her enthusiasm for football is immense and infectious.
Even when stewarding she takes time out to make sure little kids are ok and happy and goes out of her way to help in anyway she can.
She epitomises what our club is about.
