Lakeside manages ok without massive speed bumps, the roundabouts do a good job of slowing people down. I'd guess there's more kids regularly crossing the road there than on the new road. The bumps on the Woodfield link clearly aren't fit for purpose either, they've already had to fix one and the block paving on them all is knackered. Surely just a normal flat road with 30mph average speed cameras at each end would be better.

Doesn't really affect me as I only use it when I really have to, just means I will carry on shopping at Morrisons rather than venturing to Tesco!

The Woodfield road was described in the original plans as a "village" road rather than a "main" road - never intended to carry the amount of traffic that is using it now when the housing development has only just sounded.

Short-sighted in my opinion - they could have easily put a direct link road around one side of the development and developed the "village" in the centre along a smaller spine road.

IT is terrible at peak times that bit of road, terrible design.

Traffic planners designing roads that are barely adequate for current traffic levels so they have to re-build them within a few years? Who'd have thought it?

My favourite was linking the dual carriage way of White Rose Way to the M18 with a single carriage way bridge!!!

Yes agreed, very bad planning and as such was no doubt a contributory factor to all the fatal accidents in those days.

The sooner they put a weight limit on Woodfield Way the better. And for those who think there is no need for the speed bumps, if you saw the speed that people drive down here at, you'd realise they are necessary. Hopefully when more houses go up the council will do something more to combat it. It's only going to be a matter of time before someone gets hurt down here.

The speed bumps are due to be removed towards the end of the year.

Maybe the speed bumps are temporary because of construction going off on both sides of the road.

I.E Tradesmen and construction machines crossing over.

I agree Jenny, they ought to put a weight limit on there. Perhaps some width restrictions too with bollards at either end.

That road was a godsend when I live at Woodfield. It saved driving all the way round to Carr Hill or the A1 to get onto the M18 for work every day but it's been poorly executed.

Great Yorkshire Way?

how much did they pay someone to come with that stroke of genius?

Doesn't exactly give the road/area a real identity.

Been on the new road this morning, was a bit surprised that it's only single carriageway between Hare & Tortoise and the iPort, you'd think spending all that time and money it would be dual carriageway the entire way. Should hopefully make my usual route to/from the M18 around Lakeside a bit quieter anyway.

Problem with weight limit is it never seems to be upheld - I've lost count of the number of too heavy vehicles using bridge in Sprotbrough
Surely there should be a restriction on kitties parking outside Woodfoeld Farm btw

I refer you to my previous post....

Agree again .... Didn't that Bloke/ Woman in a Porsche or some other performance Car turn one over down there recently ? Wonder if he.she got done for it ? Interesting eye witness report which seems to indicate speed as you say

Speed humps are annoying as hell but seem to be the only thing that slows "em" down (whilst penalising the rest of us of course).

Its going to get much worse as you say when even more houses are added

As I said the speed bumps are to be removed later this year, they were only ever installed as a temporary measure.

Speed is a problem on all roads, this one isn't unique. Sprotbrough road is another one in question and is far busier.

The girl in the porsche  cut me up at the roundabout near the lake she was screaming that engine and out of sight.

I came to a stop further up near Morrisons due to some lads stood in the middle of the road, i saw the 911 on its roof, thinking they had just climbed out of it, they had just witnessed it but dare not look inside.

I climbed down the ditch and gently opened the door to be greeted by a radio on full volume which i couldnt reach to turn down, with a slim pretty girl upside down drifting in and out of consciousness , head trapped by the steering wheel against the floor and arms and legs pointing in the wrong direction. Not a pleasant sight especially as i had just eaten a sunday lunch.

I would have thought so by the statements given, her injuries would have been very painful, that would probably teach her a lesson alone, strange one about the passenger, he didnt even know her, i presume she was trying to impress him . Very lucky no fatalities happened that day.

I've read Viz too much. I was expecting the next line to be "I could barely even get aroused enough to shag her".
