A Desiderata For Football Fans
« on March 12, 2016, 11:17:28 am by Not Now Kato »

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what enjoyment there may be in Football.

As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all supporters of all teams.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the Dingles; for they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive supporters, especially on forums, for they add nothing and are vexatious to the spirit.

Enjoy your clubs plans as well as its achievements, but if you compare your club with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser clubs than your own.

Keep interested in your club, whichever league it is in; for it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your forum affairs; for the web is full of Trolls and trickery.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many posters strive for high ideals; and everywhere you’ll find posts full of well thought out and constructive comment.

Support all of your players.  Especially, do not put one above the others, for it is a team game and they are all part of the whole in equal measure.

Neither be unduly critical about the officials; for without them there would be no game to watch at all.

Take kindly the counsel of years, gracefully surrendering the things of the past.

Nurture strength of spirit to continue supporting your club should it suffer sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with wild imaginings.

Many fears are born of speculation and rumour. Beyond an honest concern for its welfare, believe in your club and trust its directors.

Your club is a part of your heritage, no less than the trees and the stars; it has earned the right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the League Table is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with your Manager, and trust his team selection.

And whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of the game wear your colours with pride.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, football is still a beautiful game. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

Thanks mate, but I thought now was quite appropriate. Now possibly more than ever?

We can't win everything, the past is the past, but the Rovers are still the Rovers; and the future, whatever it brings, is still exciting - that's football.  :)
