Impressed me last night. A few lapses but overall looked sound defensively.

Looked quicker and stronger.  He appears to be the one developing the quickest out of the young players.  It's a big season for him and Middleton (now sadly injured), but also Mandeville who's a year behind those two really and needs to step up this year.

Overall a lot of the youngsters look promising.  Technically quite strong a fair few of them last night, promising signs.

Most pressure will be on Middleton who is 21 right now and will be 22 by the end of the season. He has to develop or he won't make it higher than League Two. Lund is still only 19 till next month and looked decent yesterday. He'll probably be back up but seems flexible at both center and right. Mandeville at the moment is third choice so should get some game time and hopefully can make a good account of himself.

Lund will need to do a lot more than a cameo against a half arsed Toon to start convincing me he has anything more about him...When the season starts proper and he's fortunate enough based on his performances last season to get a shirt we will see....I hope so but he needs to take a much bigger step forward than he has so far to have much of a professional future imo....

I genuinely believe Lund will end up being the best of this 'batch' of graduates and will be a professional for most of his career, if not all. I like him and if he has the right coaching for the next year or two could be a very solid, reliable defender for us.

As mad as it sounds, Lund ended up being amongst the senior pro's left on the pitch at FT, I thought he had a good game and put some cracking tackles in

He's got the physique and stature. With good guidance and encouragement, he could do well.

Physique? He must have hit the gym hard in the last couple of months, for a lot of last season he looked like a stiff breeze could do him some damage. Do think he has potential, though, fingers crossed!

I don't think build has a lot to do with it at that position Nick. Phil Neal looked as though a stiff breeze would blow him over and he didn't do too much of a bad job. I think the lack of concentration had a lot to do with the lads poorer games, hopefully he's matured, a close season is a long time when you're young.

Not saying it does, but the comment was that his physique impressed the other poster. That surprised me.

Right footed Jim Husband. Athlete, engine, mad crazy tackler, questionable positioning and absolute liability with distribution.

He's been inconsistent but you'd expect that of  young pro. Husband had desire and at times probably overdid things.

At times he gets some really good tackles in and at times, he get turned inside out. It's part of the learning experience as a full back.

I like that he has shown an inclination to get in to the box when he gets a chance. He can head a ball, so provides a threat at set pieces.

I hope the positives outweigh the negatives this season. We'll need him.

His position will be as a centre half, in the near future of his career, the injuries will give him the opportunity, to show that's where he is best.
