Formation
« on July 11, 2016, 10:19:59 am by Dare to dream! »
Ferguson came in back in Oct and favored the 5-3-2 and even though it was evident we didn't have the personnel to make it work he still stuck by it. It seems to be his preferred formation so do we think we will line up against Accrington with 5-3-2 again?

As Ferguson now has a full pre season for the players to learn the formation and bring in the right players I think he will be able to make it work

If that is what he decides as the expert then I as a mere Fan will go along with his judgement.

He will have had the time to gather his own Team both on and off the Field and if it works fair play to him but if he finds it does not work and adapts it tweeks it or whatever else he might try and things still don't work then the mere Fans like me will have something to say I suppose.

It was a 3-5-2 not 5-3-2, so no I don't think we'll play 5-3-2! ;)

He has the CB's to do it again and the wing backs. What we do not have, yet, is a good solid looking middle 3 for that system to work. There is room for 1 quality CM player.

I don't think Copps will be a regular this season, but a more than able fill-in. Middleton still has the jury out, especially after last season and the same could be said of Evina.

I would expect if we play 3-5-2 the team to look something like this at the min

                       Etheridge

           Alcock    Butler   Baudry

Blair                                        Garrett

          Copps.   Mccolough   Rowe

             Williams       Mcsheffery

Maybe Wright will play centre half and Alcock at right wing back. Would like to see 1 more centre mid to come into that starting 11 instead of copps, but a decent looking team being built.

4-4-2 on occasion. Radical, I know.

Alcock - Butler - Baudry - Garratt

Copps - Rowe - McCullough - Blair

            Williams - Marquis

The bonus next season for us is we have more players who can play in a variety of positions something that we have lacked for a number of seasons , Also the bench should be stronger as well as competition for places which will only benefit us.
