He needs to get in the mindset he had before christmas last year, he was as cool as a cucumber, with a lot of his finishes, goals of all different kinds.
You don't chuck a player like him to the side. It's the managers job, to remind him how good a player he is, and to tell him when he was doing well, he had a positive mindset.

Every little niggle from a defender or a poor ball he is getting frustrated, it's draining his energy, to be able to well.
When you are having a poor run with goals, to change it you need to work harder. If he can't score he needs to give his markers no time on the ball, contest every ball, and try to nick possession, to make extra chances for himself.
He needs to tell himself, 'he is a class above this league, and that he is going to show it', with his ability, he should be top scorer in this league.
What's so hard about doing what you are good at?, he is paid to keep fit and bang goals in, what's hard about that, unless you make it that way?. The guy is class, but is playing well within himself, relax and show your capabilities, it's a short career, do it while you are capable!.

Thought he was top notch tonight, despite the thoughts of the unhelpful man 2 seats to my left slagging him off from minute 1

All the front five played well tonight as did most of the team. But we must start taking chances, we could have drawn the game tonight with the ball cleared off the line. It should have been put to bed. Hard work should be a given being clinical in front of goal needs to be worked on.

Good level of performance. A bit frantic at times bur there were signs of cohesion at times. Rowe quite quiet again. Williams and Marquis full of running but we need to work in a bit more composure at key times.

Onwards and upwards!

This is a start if we can keep up that level of performance we will do alright.
Williams and marquis did twice the running from the last game vs crawley.

I thought Williams was dreadful in the first half.

Second half, after the lineswoman went off, he was a different player. It was like something clicked in his head that said, "I'm a top end L1 striker and these Kitsons are the worst team that have ever played at the Keepmoat, so I'd better start showing them what's what."

The teams understanding of each other is building, i think in each game, it's got a touch better, even if the performances, haven't showed it.
Games like tonight, can decide if you do well, there will be quite a few teams, who turn up and just try and nick whatever they can. Games like tonight, need a different mentality, than if you play a close rival, who turns up and goes for it.
A nice solid two games, not bad, but a lot more to come, unless there is no choice, i would leave that line up for the next game.

I thought exactly the same. In fact just before the delay I said I wanted him taking off, enough is enough. But he stepped up big time after that and showed why he can be vital to this team.

Williams and Marquis began to look like a very good pairing last night and both worked very hard.
Marquis in particular had the better chances and with a bit more composure in front of goal could have had three himself.
Very promising.
By the way, that cross from Blair for the goal was sooooo good.
Marquis's eyes must have lit up when he saw it arrowing towards him.

Ditto to that. Anonymous in the first half but vastly improved for the last half an hour. Poor touch and decision making let him down a couple of times but a marked improvement.

I thought he was a little bit unlucky a couple of times as well. Will be a monster in this division if he gets on a run.

I'm not sure whether we were at the same game if you think that the front two looked like a good pairing.

They both, individually played reasonably well for patches of the second half (emphasis on "reasonably" and "patches") but by no stretch of the imagination did they look like a pairing. To me, despite the win and the better performance, that is still a worry. There was no sign of Williams and Marquis working the defence as a co-ordinated pair, or linking up in either movement or passes. Frequently there was room to land an Airbus between them as we attacked. Something to work on.

Funny that BST, i remember the two of them linking well, especially in the second half.
Williams twice got the ball across goal to set Marquis up for scoring opportunities.
Admittedly they were not always as close as you would want them to be but it is still early days for them.
I reckon that they will be a handfull for most defences in this league and that they will both get plenty of goals.
