Opportunity missed?
« on September 14, 2016, 05:35:16 pm by godlike1 »
I won't state by saying that this is embarrassing for the club as I don't know the agenda of the airport

But..........

To have the blades in our back yard twice this season already is not a nice feeling and as such our commercial team need to hot foot it to see daa land to give them a taste of their own medicine

Why do the Blunts need an airport partner? It's not like there'll be going anywhere.

Must get the Fokker out. That'll sort 'em...

Why would this be embarrassing?

Why would a 4th division team need a commercial tie in with a local airport?

As it is "Doncaster Sheffield Airport" anyway, what's the problem?  A non-story IMHO..

If owt it should be Sheffield united who are embarrassed. It was named Doncaster Sheffield airport to appease the mardy Sheffielders who couldn't run an airport of their own.

Seeing as it is no nearer to Sheffield than it was when it was just an RAF based airport, it's obvious that they are just jumping on the bandwagon now that it has international airport status.

I must admit, a few years ago when we had the best football team in South Yorkshire I was quite worried that Rovers were going to be re-named Doncaster Sheffield Rovers.

It makes my f**king piss boil!

A few years back I happened to be sat around doing nothing very much at Plovdiv airport (a grandiose title for what was basically a military airbase with added passengers) when up on the Heath Robinson screen popped 'Flight xxxxx Doncaster International'.

Cooo!!!! Did I feel chuffed or what...

Cheers

BB: I have a framed original souvenir poster of that first flying meeting hanging on the wall here. I've had it decades.'Souvenir of Englands First Flying Week - Held at Doncaster - October 15th to October 23rd 1909' it informs me.

Us Doncastrians have certainly had a lot to be proud of over the years, and I bet not a lot of people know about our aviation history.
