Etheridge vs Salford City

Ross played his first game for Alfreton against Salford on the weekend. Highlight are below. Did some good things and some bad things.

Only really shows the one routine save he made, the other two clips he's involved in he didn't look commanding. He also looked like he was running in treacle in the clip where he nearly got the assist for Salford.

Looks to me like he did n'all. Two decent saves.

The rushing out is the bad part. First one is fine, he gets there, right up until he decides to kick it back across the field. Should never do that in that situation. 2nd one I think he should just stay on his line.

The clearance was terrible. Row Z should have been the call. For the goal it looked like he called for it, the defender didn't listen and his header was terrible, straight into the danger area.

At fault for the goal and appalling decision to put the ball into play when he rushed out. Useless get rid

What a poor goal that he let in. Monkhouse's cross was a cracker for the Alfreton goal. Even from those limited highlights you can see he needs plenty of games to get his confidence back. Indecisive on coming for crosses, bad decisions, bad positioning and that's just seeing a few minutes.

Thanks for the link. Very foolish with that kick after what was a sound quick off the mark rush out. Maybe something to do with the defence not yet feeling comfortable with him with that lack of a comanding presence where the goal went in - on balance I thought he was right to come out for it but could have been more physical as well as shouting.

With his shot stopping abilities, he's got the basics of being a great keeper IMO but needs massive work on his confidence, being commanding and making solid decisions. Spending the rest of this season at Alfreton looks like a good level to give him the chance to improve.

Thanks for putting up the link CIM.

That was a terrible decision to try and keep the ball in play after rushing out to clear it.
Judging by those brief highlights, that showing won't have done a great deal for his confidence.

It certainly hasn't for mine...!
