Will the club arrange for him to come to the Exeter game so the fans can thank him.

I thought he had signed a contract extension at Chelsea for next season.

He has. That's an insurance policy for him and for Chelsea...and what a wise move it was given his injury.

It's a question now on whether he recovers in time to start pre-season. Either way, if there isn't a move for him before the season then we may have to wait until January if a loan is in the offing.

DF will want to make sure he's fit before making any sort of move however, we know DF is keeping in touch with him.

If you can read anything into some of the tweets he's liked, then it looks encouraging that he'll want to come back here in the summer.

If we could get him on a permanent deal it would be a massive signing for us. A real quality footballer capable of bossing a game.

A midfield 4 of Houghton, Mason, Grant and Rowe will be competitive in Div 1, I would have thought. Good back-up with McCullough, Copps? Middleton, Blair, if not RB, Longbottom and Beestin.

Just the defence to sort and, depending on Williams, maybe 1 striker?

With a few more games and a full pre-season under his belt I'd argue McCullough could well be one of the first names on the team sheet, never mind as back up.

If we have McCullough/Houghton/Mason next year I can see Fergie using a system similar to Chelsea this year with the two holding midfielders (Kante and Matic) then giving the likes of Rowe/Grant/Blair et al license to attack a lot more.

I really hope Blair plays on the wing next season.

Nice to learn he could be back training in July or August - just in time for out onslaught on Div 1 next season?
