Football trivia question...
« on May 07, 2017, 11:43:46 pm by Bentley Bullet »
It's the last game of the season and at the final whistle one of the teams had been relegated, and the other had been promoted. Nothing out of the ordinary there, but the fans of the promoted team were just as downhearted as the relegated team. Why?

Cause a lot of them are at their happiest when downhearted

Because one of them's managers f**ked up the best chance of a trophy he and some of his team will probably ever get in spectacular fashion.

I imagine it's because perspective has been lost in this fine sport. The way people have been carrying on this weekend has been nothing short of embarrassing, on Twitter and most certainly on here.

Almost as embarrassing as the way we've capitulated...

Cos the promoted Team cannot go up as its Ground is not fit for the higher "echelon" to which it was going ?

BB, are you disappointed that we didn't win the title?

Because they knew it was time to get a freezing cold shower in the away team changing rooms

There's a big difference between disappointment and self-righteous indignation.

Probably because of the previous 97 mins they had endured and bottled. Let's face it we have been a wee bit let down have we not, or maybe it is just me

Of course I'm disappointed! But instead of berating what could have been, I've moved on and am now celebrating promotion.

Sometimes you have to think about the bigger picture. Maybe human nature dictated that Hartlepool's desire to win the game was more prominent because their level of desperation was far greater than ours. Perhaps it was like they were begging for bread while we were demanding caviar.

Similarly, the previous defeats by Blackpool, Wickham and Exeter could have been a battle of determination that we couldn't match because their desperation was far greater.

Happened to Darlington this season - although only denying them a place in the play-offs rather than automatic promotion.

So they are probably the only club to have been relegated from the league in part due to having a ground with too many seats and then denied progress on the route back in to it for having a ground with not enough.

saw that -- wondered what the sp was ---  piece of cake for Chorley overturned a 1-0 home defeat so it's looking like Halifax will be back in The national League -- one yorkie bar out and another in
