Very sad news. Dick was a true gent - always had the best interests of the club at heart and never chased the limelight. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to all his family and friends.

Always a big loss when we lose one of our own. He could have chosen many clubs to help but decided to help the side he supports. We are living through a special time for our club and Dick along with the other two helped to create these good times.
I never met him personally but since Dick and Terry have taken over the club has been run in a quiet understated manner whereas John's way was more razzamataz both ways have brought us success-I'm really grateful for all three putting in they're money and time to make the club what it is. A small but ambitious club-RIP Dick and best wishes to all his family :scarf:.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dick Watson on several occasions, a true gentleman and always gave you his time. A really big loss to every one and the world is a poorer place without him. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time. He will be greatly missed.

I don't think anybody had a bad word for him. A decent, honest man who wanted the best for his local team. He will be sadly missed and long remembered by many people. RIP Dick. You certainly earned your place in the hearts and memories of the fans.

Would just like to echo everyone's sentiments here. Truly in shock this morning. Thankyou so much Dick. Perhaps the club could name a stand at the keepmoat after him? His legacy must not be forgotten.

Above all else Dick was a supporter of the club. To pump millions into it you have to be because it's an utterly thankless task. I know the Watson family backed the Black Bank also. So we've lost one of our own.

He, along with John Ryan and Terry Bramall, brought relative stability to the club. Putting aside debates about money in the game, we're a financialy stable and well run club and it's other examples which show this to be true. And moments of success.

I think the statements released by the club are very reassuring and the transition to Andy's involvement seems to have been going on for a while now. This club will outlive us all.

All the best to the Watson family.

I'm keen to carry a small tribute to Dick in the first fanzine of the new season... but I've never met the man, and don't believe in empty platitudes. As such, just wondered if anyone who has worked with him, or known him, through his involvement in Rovers who'd be happy to write 200-300 words on his passing for the fanzine?
