Local schools out here isshe free iPads to all pupils.

My 6 year old started his first year in school back in August.after about 3 weeks all his class was issued with an free iPad. My 10 year old goes to same school as all his class were issued with a free iPad aswell.

I used to feal the weight of my 10years olds school rucksack and it allways had some serious weight in it due to all the books in it.

Suppose the iPad is a good thing ,but it now worrys me a tad as every kid walking home from school will now have an item of worth in their rucksack ,as they become easy prey for the wrong types of life.

Must cost the education system a few noggy Kr to dish out free iPads and it will not be long before the system is abused .

If the textbooks are all digital ones each pupil has on their pad it'd save on buying actual books which then get defaced, damaged and lost.

Also, a pad would save a lot on blank paper and exercise books.

Issue free iPads to schools around here and they'd be on eBay the following day!

Not much good if they're encrypted like the civil service laptop I had. You couldn't start it up without a dongle. Perhaps there's a way of making the pads require to connect with the school's wifi signal or it'll seize up after, say. a week without connecting to it.

Both my kids bring their school iPads home every day so they can do their homework on them etc etc.

The only task that the parents have is to make sure they take the iPad back to school the next day and get the iPad fully charged up for the morning.

There's a company in Sheffield that sells cars to people with poor credit - the cars have a device in them and if the buyer doesn't pay on time the device stops the car from running. I'm sure the schools can do something similar to the ipads so they don't work if they 'disappear'.

Some valid points in that write up that never came to my mind really,like the back up policy of loaning out all these iPads to kids .

Where that report claims that all kids should not be given iPads ,they certianly have done it round this neck of the woods outside Oslo.
