Firefly Fundraising Again - 10km Swim
« on August 09, 2017, 12:07:13 pm by DaveDRFC »
Hi all,

Struggling for motivation with getting fit at the moment so I have decided to take on a slightly different challenge. The Amphibian is a 10km (6.2 mile) open water swim, consisting of ten 1km swim laps with a 100 metre run section at the end of each lap. I have never previously swum further than 3.8km so this is quite a bit further! The 10km swim is considered to be the marathon of swimming so I am expecting it to take me around 4 hours.

Hoping to raise a bit of cash for Firefly again, if you want to donate the link is...

Cheers!

I have been given another signed Rovers shirt to auction off for this so it will be going on eBay at some point in the next few weeks, will let people know when it is live.

Firefly also won the vote to be the 4th official charity of this season for Club Doncaster which is great news for them.

Completed this today in 3 hours 46 minutes. Was a lot harder than I anticipated, certainly feeling sore now. Turns out swimming over 6 miles is hard bloody work!

Well done Dave. I'd still be there next week. That's a bloody long way to swim for sure. Channel next?
