You are 12 months early. We only need to consolidate a league one place this season, and we are likely to do that even if we draw half the games to the end of the season. Expectations will be higher next year.

Promotion will not happen even with in the next 3 years as planned. The accounts show we are treading water and sometimes we might sink below the surface but introduction of money keeps us still trading water. We are what we are a middle to bottom league 1 club. We may get close to relegation we may even get just above half way but we can’t expect any better.

The last two posts miss the tongue in cheek-ness of the OP methinks...

now now - steady on with your reasonable assessments of where we stand in the great scheme of things and common sense acceptance of pretty much exactly the sort of situation that might properly be expected given pretty much any factor that you care to mention; what we need is more incendiary rants based on on myopic expectations, demands that as many people as possible are sacked with immediate effect and criticism of the team for not performing like barcelona on speed week in and week out...

that said, it's refreshing to see that a decent point away from home against a team who went unbeaten at home for four months to start the season being acknowledged as just that - council been putting doses of realism in the drinking water up there or something ?

The accounts showed exactly the same the last time we won promotion

Which is similar to what I said earlier in the week. 👍

Well, going by bums on seats, Rovers should be tenth;

So we are underperforming...but not by much, and it could be improved before the end of the season!

The one that surprises me most on that list is Wigan.
I thought their gates would be much better.

Scunthorpe have been in the play-off positions for the last two seasons, if we include this season. Would you seriously suggest that Scunny are a bigger, better, and richer club than us?

No Scunthorpe are a smaller club than us by a considerable margin.
To say we are not going to get promotion in the next three years and are likely to be skirting close to relegation is a statement without any foundation whatsoever.
Look at Accrington Stanley top of league 2 and looking very likely now to finish in the top three at least. They have the joint smallest budget in the league.
Good management allied with a balance of experience and youth, a consistent method of playing and a great team spirit can get any team promoted. Shrewsbury and Accrington are proving that this season.

Can we just all agree that Steve doesn't have a f**king scooby how to read accounts or what they mean in a footballing context.

The abbreviated accounts for a small company indicate club Doncaster had to lend Doncaster Rovers Ltd 2 million pound in the accounting year.
We are continually told that the owners have to put in 1 million pound each every year so we are treading water.
We can’t see from the abbreviated accounts our wage bill so those facts are not available in the public domain yet.

So we cannot compare against other clubs this accounting period.

Agreed. If we are treading water I fear the worst for about 60 other football league clubs.

Campsall Look At Scunthorpe’s accounts wages for 2015, where we can compare they were slightly larger than ours. In 2016 their wages increased by a million. Cannot compare wages wise because ours are not published in 2016 or the latest 2017.

Also Shrewsbury accounts for wages wise in 2016, when they were in League 1 were just slightly behind what we paid in 2015, when we where in league 1. They have had 20 months in league 1 since then and in last 8 months they brought in 12 players in the summer plus 3 players last transfer window. So we don’t know what their wage bill was last season yet and not this season. So it is hard to compare.

Therefore your comments on the accounts are utterly meaningless. That and the fact that the amount you spend, while it obviously can and does help, does not necessarily determine your success on the pitch.

If it's hard to compare, why do you constantly berate our budget?
