I really enjoyed 2014, if not from an England perspective, because it felt like the first time in a long time countries were going out to win games as opposed to not losing them.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the tournament this year. With some shock results and really solid performances/poor performances from unexpected teams it has made a welcome change from the usual suspects in league and European football dominating.

Even the missus has got into it a bit this year which makes a change from the last eight years!

I find that amazing, must have no eyes. It’s an absolutely wonderful event. I could just sit watching the fans, especially the South Americans and Africans, brilliant support.

I imagine most of these African and south American fans are not exactly the poorest people don't ask where the money comes from

it always cracks me up when I see the Nigeria team playing and I always check their position in this index   bless em -- yes it really does exist !!

   I think people are enjoying it because they didn't really expect much from it..We weren't expecting so many people enjoying themselves just riot police and blood...
   It's actually been a fabulous World Cup,fair play to Russia for it...

Should have added I’m in France in my caravan with no tv😀 strangely none of the bars have shown it unless they only have it on when France are playing

I was in Australia for the 2006 tournament which was crap in the sense of timing as well as Aussie disinterest.  Ended up watching Portugal beat us courtesy of a bar owner shifting his telly against the window and leaving it on for us to sit outside and watch, think it was about 3am. I still haven't touched a sardine since!!

Brazil and Mexico are the 7th and 10th richest countries in the world (UK is 8th), Nigeria is 24th.

Anyone noticed the lack of trouble at this world cup comp.
What do they call that Russian rabble that cause loads of trouble at games across Europe, is it the Ultra's or summat?
My thinking is that Putin and his cronies know about the leaders of this lot, I think they've always known who they are and where they are. I think an early morning knock on the door of the leaders of this rabble by Putin's KGB, or whatever it's called these days, has kept them quiet, as Putin wants to show Russia to the world in a good light, and he doesn't want any troublesome knob'eads showing the world his country in a bad light.

The Ultra's (or whatever they're called) leaders would think twice about causing trouble if they were warned that they and their families could disappear without trace if any sign of trouble ensued. Just a thought.

I’ve given up betting on this World Cup. There’s so many surprise results.  If it’s not England it would be good to see a new winner that’s never win it before
