Top scorer. However for me he should have at least double what he’s got with all the sitters he’s missed. Some absolute howlers. We’d probably be top of the league as well.

And if he put all his chances away he wouldn't be in League one!!

The point is our midfield are creating so many chances a game I actually think anyone could score goals in this side.

If you were one of the few who stayed right to the end you would have seen John come to the south stand and apologise for his performance today when the rest slunk off. He did miss some sitters today but Kudos for his response!

But where are the others that can score. Copps has started nearly every game and he’s scored 1 goal. Wilks scored 3. No other player in a an attacking role has scored enough goals from theseabundance of chances.  Blair from midfield has got 3 goals. Whiteman 1. Yes John should have taken his chances today. But when he doesn’t score it’s Doncaster Rovers NIL.

Blair has 3 from midfield from about 8 games, that’s a great return

Yes, Marquis should have scored from his two superb opportunities.
He knows it as well as we do but I keep saying this, the hardest thing to do in football is to put the ball in the net.
All good strikers score a few and miss a lot.

The thing is that he keeps on getting into position to score.
In the second half of last season it was a rarity for anyone to get into a scoring position.
He will probably go on another scoring run, all good strikers do.

It was very much an off day for Marquis and others today , but it’s still hard to except a performance as inept as this . We are now on a 2 match beaten run  back to back, our unbeaten home record has gone and to cap it all were beaten by a cheating , elbowing fauling  gobshite like Joey Barton.

But it wasn’t an inept performance.
In the first half we were at least as good as the opposition but while we missed our chances, three sitters amongst them, they took theirs.
There was lots of effort and good skills from our lads.
I would imagine that the dressing room was a noisy place at half time as GM tried to rally the lads and they would have come out hoping to get an early second half goal to get back into it.
To concede the sloppy fourth goal as quick as we did would just knock the stuffing out of any plans we may have had.
There was still effort from then on but in reality the hearts were probably not in it.
I heard a bloke on the way back to the car saying that none of our players put any effort in today which is ridiculous.

WHAT ??? We were 0-3 down by halftime and 0-4 within 10 of the second so it was inept in EVERY way !!  They scored their chances we didn’t, we gave away a penalty THEY didn’t we conceded from 2 set pieces THEY didn’t . It was a shambolic display of football both in defence and up front . Inept was at least what it was , absolute bollox in any other terms .

Incorrect.

Marquis didn't score in the win against Luton, and we were already two up against Wycombe before he got the third.

Marquis has always missed chances. Nothing new. Doesn’t mean he’s not a decent player.

The meaning of the word inept is having or showing no skill.
That simply wasn’t true of our players today.
At 1-0 both Marquis and Wright missed gilt edged chances.
At 2-0 and just a moment before half time Marquis blazed the best chance of the match over the bar.
If it had gone in it would have been 2-1 and we would have been back in the game.
Straight away it went to 3-0.
Those were match changing times in the game.
It could easily have been 3-3 at half time instead of being 3-0.
The chances, particularly the last Marquis one, came about because of great skill by our players.
Kane, Copps and Mason were instrumental in that.

We actually played quite well in the first half.

The second half was a non event after that fourth goal.

All good strikers miss chances, often more than they score.
It isn’t just Marquis who does that.

Only last week he was allegedly worth £5million.

He’s only worth what others are prepared to pay . The performance yesterday WAS inept . No one person to blame, the team had to take responsibility for thise . Learn and move on ...sh** happens .

The only consolation would be if a few Championship scouts were watching Marquis yesterday.

Personal choice I’d give may a chance to start instead of Wilks or cops.  When he came on I thought he looked a bit of a handful yesterday.   Full of enthusiasm and running

Remember Paul Barnes?
He scored loads of goals but missed loads more than he scored.
Still remains something of a legend at Rovers though.

Just what I have been saying about JM.
It is what all strikers do.
