Goals Galore
« on July 29, 2018, 04:06:46 pm by Branton Rover »
On the eve of the new season under a new manager - I think we’re in for an exciting season of plenty of goals especially considering GM & his preference of 4-3-3.

Presumably our midfield 3 will be Tommy, Crawford & Whiteman which is very open & expansive - we’re not used to open attacking football at Donny with the emphasis of you score 3 & we’ll score 4 it’s very Keegan-esq

It’s bold & I salute Grant for being brave but our 3 in midfield could be overrun by the opposition playing a basic 4-4-2 or a 4-5-1 can we handle being outnumbered in the middle of the park.

It’s not going to be dull hold on tight the rollercoaster is about to set off at break neck speed

McCullough will start every game where fit guaranteed. None of the 3 you mention do the defending part of the game well at all.

Careful you don’t get that tongue permanently stuck in your cheek.

Since GM arrived we have played 3 EFL sides and conceded 4 and scored 0, albeit friendlies.

Yep, we have every reason to expect a great ride.

It’s okay we’ll just wait for the opposition keeper to kick it to Coppinger

To be fair he did say where fit.
Even then in my opinion he is at best a squad player

Yes elmsall, we went 5 games with a single goal against Oxford, Blackburn, Oldham, Wimbledon and Wigan. So that is 8 games with a single goal (other than non-EFL sides).

I am looking forward to this season starting, but can't help feel some trepidation that we have not done enough preparation.

Michael, you need to change "with" to "without".

Think of it this way periods without a goal, are usually followed by a glut of goals, especially when you don't expect it.

I'm not going to give an opinion on anything until at least 10 games in. I haven't been to any of the friendlies, and I've no idea whether or not GM will bring any more players in.

In all honesty I have never felt so flat for the start of a season for a long time, to be fair I have only seen the Sheffield Utd friendly, but apart from a period in the first half we look well well short of a top 6 finish. Defensively we look fine, midfield & striker wise we are well short. Hope I'm wrong.

Even if we finish top of the league Baz, I don't think it will stop Dave and me from farting.

Yeah, especially the bit about McCullough being a certainty to start every game.

2nd highest scorers in the league, is there a single player from satdi who we would say only had an average game..   a bench with, copps, rowe, mason and Wright not quite ready, we really have 17 quality players with GM ready to blood youngsters, amos  and boocock on the fringes.... this is a manager with an immediate plan but also looking to the future...

Having read quite a few posts from the weeks leading up to the seasons start, and a few in the first couple of weeks, it’s great to see how warm optimism can grow in even the coldest of bones 🌞
