I actually voted no, although the number will always be synonymous with Copps. I don't personally think retiring numbers is something that should be done in football. There are many ways we could and should honour Copps when he hangs it up though. Naming the South Stand after him wouldn't be a bad move.

I did not want to overcomplicate the Poll but did consider adding a further question along the lines of - should a retirement of Shirt be done but only for a temporary period (say 10 years)

However the other day I could not cope with 2 options so I stuck with 2 !

I would agree with you for numbers 1 to 11, but somehow I feel if numbers go as far as 26 then one of the higher ones can be retired

I've suggested before, although the number could be retired from first team action, it could be used as a symbol of excellence. Maybe a 26 shirt awarded to the young player of the year at the annual awards or something like that.

Copps has a few years left - buffon played t'other night (yeah I know it's the easiest, most laid back, most 'I can stand here while everyone else does 10k over the next hour and a half)  position going - but class shows!

Best way to honour him would be to make him the club ambassador the club figurehead give him a pension for life so long as he stays as ambassador

I think anything other than a playing contract will see him leave regardless of titles bestowed on him - his performances this season have been terrific & that alone he deserves another contract - I can’t get enough of how he turns opposing players inside out

I put this suggestion forward at a supporters club meeting recently. Also to have one of alick Jeffery in replacement for the horrendous one near the east stand but when this suggestion was put to the club only the other week it has fallen on deaf ears. I suggested a crowd funding page but someone at whatever level thinks that statue's of our two greatest players isn't required. It beggars belief.

All numbers above 18 should be retire so that we can have 1-11 starting on the pitch and 12-18 on the bench, regardless of who’s wearing them.

Also, only black boots, long sleeve shirts, muddy goal areas and at least one mandatory permed haircut
