You can’t win this argument!!
I will answer the Question, No he should not get substituted for missing a chance, because his all round game as an attacker is so much better than the other players who play in central forward positions. He is strong enough to hold the ball up with his back to goal, he is a good enough player to bring wide men into the game, and he runs the diagonal runs well, and scores different types of goals, shots from outside the box with both feet, tap ins, and headers as well. That is why he gets more chances to score, and miss than all our other strikers, and why the manager is reluctant to take him off, nobody else on our books can do his job, they are not as good as him, and why other teams will pay a transfer fee for his services.
If he is subbed who plays in a “ front three “? Three from Wilks,Sadlier,Smith,May and Coppinger ? Or maybe Longbottom seeing he scored the 3rd out of 4 for Gainsborough against North Ferriby. We are all a bit annoyed that we didn’t win, but have a reality check, John Marquis is going to become the first Doncaster Rovers player to score 20 league goals in the third tier of English football.

That’s not really helped the debate along....but thank you for involving some good old stats.....
Marquis was poor today, I don’t think the small pitch suited him, his touch isn’t great. The thing is no matter how bad he is playing, while ever he’s on the pitch he’s probably favourite to score.

Glad it's not just me. Marquis was terrible today. He should have been subbed. With the pace of Smith and Wilkes through the middle we'd have terrorised their lumps at the back.Instead kept pumping it to JM who miscontrolked it or ran into trouble and then blamed somebody else.
