Colin
I understand where you're coming from but I'm in a very different place.

Times like this remind me how lucky I am to be a football fan.

I keep banging on about this, but ultimately it's not about winning and promotions and position in the pyramid.

It's about memories. It's about moments. It's about pride.

We are by some way the smallest of the four clubs in the play-offs, certainly in terms of fanbase and I'm guessing also in terms of wage bill. And yet, last night, when we were written of to the point of being ignored by the media, we've put in a performance that was streets ahead of anything the other three have managed in the playoffs.

I couldn't be prouder to be associated with this club. That will stay, regardless of us not making promotion.

Agree billy, great post

Away goals rule and we’re in the final, total injustice in my opinion, over the two legs we were the better team

Mate, they haven’t used that system for years. We wouldn't have been complaining if we had won the game 1-0 and gone through on penalties would we.

Think I was much more nervous at the Coventry game and far more pissed off at the embarrassment of the Wycombe away collapse.

We came, we saw, we controlled, we dominated, we lost.

Even after all the success we’ve had, I don’t think Iv ever felt as proud as I did last night, and do right now.

This club means everything to me, what an effort.

Thank you Grant McCann for bringing back the enjoyment for me.

Come off it, it’s not as though they decided halfway through the tie to scrap the away goals rule. We were the better team over the legs but we lost on penalties, we knew that’s how a drawn tie would be decided so deal with it.

Agree 100%

I thought you were going to burst into song for the last bit ....

"Thank you for the Football - for giving it to me "

(Abba of course - maybe should not mention Penalty references at this moment though)

You’re teading it wrong mate, I know the rules, what I’m saying is it should be away goals before penalty’s it would be a fairer reflection of the two games rather than the lottery of penalty’s, penalty’s should be a last resort

Don’t like away goals system. For me it would be Golden goal. So much fairer and equal for both sides.

On the telly they said the pens had to be towards the Charlton fans for safety reasons. Did anyone know that before kick off? Tommy Rowe didn't look like he did, I actually don't think a shoot out towards your own fans is an advantage, I think Rowe might have been a little rattled by that and possibly felt a sense of injustice and like the officials were against us.

Away goals?
ABBA?

Totally irrelevant. Everyone knew they weren’t beng used before the game and that’s that.

If we’re using the ‘clutching at straws’ excuses for not reaching the final, can I mention Golden Goal before anyone beats me to it?

I wouldn’t even be that bothered by the eventual outcome - I just think the players deserve enormous praise for how they performed ladt night.

My Ref to ABBA was just to add context to the sentence above - not a reference to Penalties themselves and of course not straw clutching either

We knew as you say no Away goals rule and for those wishing we had had it - well again as I have said elsewhere it would have changed the way all Teams played buth legs in all games

Its hypothetical in every case - and as Rigo rightly says above :

"I just think the players deserve enormous praise for how they performed last night."
