I think the opening post is well meaning, but in all seriousness Chris Hughton is a million miles from a realistic target. My concern about these people being discussed is that it unfairly leads to a sense of underwhelming disappointment at who we eventually get. It’s not a sensible benchmark.

There will be some good realistic targets in the frame that can come in and do an excellent job, but they should not and cannot be compared to someone like Hughton who is a highly respected premier league manager and way out of our reach.

That job will probably be more likely than our job. Newcastle could do a lot worse.
